#Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that will take place on December 1, 2020.  It's a global day dedicated to giving back to causes and charities through non-profit organizations. #GivingTuesday started in 2012 and kicks off a season of Christmas festivities, gifts, volunteering, and end-of-year giving, spotlighting charitable events and fundraising to millions worldwide!

Meet Mercy Joy Nursing Student Majorine!

We first met Majorine when she was 13 years old (pictured left) during our first mission trip to Uganda in 2013. Majorine grew up in extreme poverty with a single mother.  Majorine was always a bright student, but had to drop out of school and help her family due to a lack of school fees. 

Shortly after meeting Majorine, she was sponsored into our Child Sponsorship Program in 2013.  Majorine excelled in her studies through middle and high school (called Secondary School in Uganda). After completing secondary school, Majorine wanted to pursue a career in Nursing where she could impact the lives of others and help support her family.

Today, Majorine is 20 years old (pictured right) and is a Nursing Student at the Mengo School of Nursing & Midwifery in Kampala, Uganda where she is pursuing her dream to become a Registered Nurse (RN).  She is also performing an internship at Mengo Hospital and volunteers at the Buvuma Health Center.

Mercy Joy Ministries was founded on the principles of Christ, Education and Economic Empowerment.  Majorine just needed for someone to give her an opportunity and a fighting chance.  There are many more Majorine's in Uganda waiting for a sponsor to give them an opportunity to pursue their dreams.  Will that next sponsor be you?  Check out our Child and Vocational Sponsorship Programs and see how you can make a difference in a life today!
