LBCA Research Advocate Julia Katherine Levine teamed up with Dr. James Waisman from City of Hope for an informative presentation on metastatic lobular breast cancer during the Susan G. Komen LA to NY Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference in October. We thank Julia and Dr. Waisman for sharing their personal and professional experiences on this important topic!

Cleveland Clinic Podcast Focuses on ILC Research

Dr. Megan Kruse Examines Ongoing and Upcoming ILC Research

Medical oncologist and lobular breast cancer researcher Dr. Megan Kruse from the Cleveland Clinic took part in a podcast discussing ILC research to identify optimal treatment plans and outcomes for patients fighting lobular breast cancer.

She commented, “As a breast medical oncologist, I am faced with a number of challenging situations every day. One of those situations that is tough for me as a provider and tough for my patients is when we know our clinical studies have gaps in the ways we understand their cancer and how to treat it. This is something I find myself thinking all too often for ILC patients. Many clinicians have experienced that this cancer behaves in a unique way. We just don’t know what to do about that. My desire to push forward research in this space is because I hope to soon be able to answer the tough questions for my ILC patients.”

San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium® ILC Updates

While you already know the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium will be virtual this year (December 8-12), the LBCA is pleased to announce that there will be two opportunities to learn more about lobular breast cancer. First, the Alamo Advocate Program will be airing a recorded advocate chat session (presentation and Q&A) on ILC and epigenetics. Moderated by LBCA Executive Director Laurie Hutcheson, the session will feature medical oncologist and epigenetics researcher Dr. Rinath Jeselsohn from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The recording will be available for viewing by those registered for the Alamo Advocate Program during SABCS and later on our website. Registration is free for the Alamo Advocate Program for patient advocates.

We are also excited to be partnering with the GRASP (Guiding Researchers & Advocates to Scientific Partnerships) program to present small group advocate, mentor, and scientist discussions of several of the 13 posters specific to ILC at SABCS this year.

To register for free to be a participant advocate in one of these sessions, which will occur the week after SABCS, please register with GRASP, You do also need to register for SABCS to attend. The sessions will be recorded and posted on the LBCA and GRASP websites later in the year.
