BY  ON NOVEMBER 14, 2020 • ( LEAVE A COMMENT )

These five Vermont Daily news stories found strong reader interest this week of 11/8 – 11/14. Also included is a September 25 post that has taken on a viral life of its own. NEXT WEEK: survey results and recommendations from Vermont Town Clerks on mail-in balloting.

  1. VIDEO: Vermont ‘brutally violent’ for teen sex trafficking survivor

“When I was being trafficked in Vermont, I was a minor. I was 15 years old, and every time when I was in my home in Maine, and I knew that we were going to be brought to Vermont, I became frightened because it was the one place where I knew it would be brought that I never knew if I was gonna end up coming home or not.”

  1. New Covid-19 restrictions ban multi-household gatherings

New restrictions include a ban on ‘multi-household’ gatherings indoors and outdoors, in homes or public spaces. As cases are reported and contact tracing is performed, people at these gatherings can expect to be contacted by, and must comply with, health department authorities.

  1. Recount for Mitzi Johnson seat Nov. 20

If the recount finds Johnson a winner, she may face competition for election as House Speaker. Three, possibly four candidates have thrown their hats into the ring. Reps. Jill Krowinski (D-Burlington), Sarah Copeland-Hanzas (D-Bradford), and Charlie Kimbell (D-Woodstock) all have publicly declared their candidacy.

  1. WDEV radio host fired for Trump perspective

“I wanted to help preserve the long term viability of the station by continuing to welcome all viewpoints, but also making my show relevant to people outside of the older, white, male demographic and to the two-thirds of Vermonters who didn’t vote for President Trump last week,” Gram said. “These efforts, too, were doomed.”

  1. An Open Letter to AOC – INCLUDES VIDEO

Never in the history of American presidential transition has a would-be ascendant so bluntly threatened free speech.

….And trending high with 573 views this week is this September 25 post:

Did Biden really promise Beto O’Rourke would run national gun control policy? Yes

Yesterday on Twitter a prominent liberal Vermont pundit (oh okay, it was Kevin Ellis) asked if anyone really believes a President Joe Biden would appoint Beto “we are going to take away your AR-15” O’Rourke as his national gun control czar. I picked up the gauntlet.
