Trauma Healing:

More than 80 percent of the population has experienced a trauma at one or another point in their life, through accidents, addiction, depression, violence, or other circumstances or events. Trauma can have a range of different cognitive, emotional, physical, and behavioural effects on individuals.

Trauma is the residue from the past as it settles into your body. When people are traumatized, they become, sometimes unknowingly, afraid of their physical sensations; their breathing becomes shallow, and they become uptight and frightened about what they’re feeling inside. When you slow down your breathing with yoga, you can increase your heart rate variability, and that decreases stress. Yoga opens you up to feeling every aspect of your body’s sensations. It’s a gentle, safe way for people to befriend their bodies, where the trauma of the past is stored.

Physical Activity & Exercise:

Exercise

Exercise is a type of physical activity that you plan.  Planned, structured, repetitive and intentional movement. You do it to improve your muscle strength, flexibility, and aerobic fitness. Exercise is also intended to improve or maintain physical fitness
-> Here are some examples of exercise routines strength training reps  3 days a week, weekly fitness classes, whole body stretching or yoga, running/ jogging or 30 minutes or more on/with any workout equipment/ machine.

Physical Activity

Physical activity is any activity that gets you moving in your day to day life. Physical activity is any movement that is carried out by the muscles that require energy. It is any movement a person does.
-> Common types of physical activity include: household chores such as vacuuming,  workplace physical activity such as lifting boxes, lifestyle physical activity such as carrying a basket at the grocery store, active transportation such as walking to your destination, or leisure time physical activity such as playing sports or exercising.

What’s best—physical activity or exercise?

Physical activity can help you to have better mental and physical health, especially if you sit a lot. Stay active doing things you like and can fit into your regular routine. It doesn’t matter if you exercise, do other types of physical activity, or a combination of both, as long as you start moving. Find what motivates you!

Rieki Healing:
Did you know these reiki facts...

-The word ‘reiki’ translates as ‘universal life energy’.

-A full Reiki treatment covers all the glands, organs and main energy centres of the body.

-The person receiving the Reiki treatment draws the amount of energy they need. Not their conscious mind, but a higher part, which knows what is best for them.

-There is a limitless source of universal energy. Reiki does not deplete the energy of the person channelling Reiki.

Reiki can help you develop your inner knowledge, alleviate physical and emotional pain, decrease anxiety and tension, boost your immune response, feel more in control of you life, stimulates the body's own natural healing processes by facilitating its flow throughout the body, and balances the mind, body and spirit.

Nutrition & Food:
Nutrition is how food affects the health of the body. Food is essential—it provides vital nutrients for survival, and helps the body function and stay healthy. Food is comprised of macronutrients including protein, carbohydrate and fat that not only offer calories to fuel the body and give it energy but play specific roles in maintaining health. Food also supplies micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) and phytochemicals that don't provide calories but serve a variety of critical functions to ensure the body operates optimally.

Five key factors that make up a healthy diet: (1) An adequate diet, (2) A balanced diet, (3) Calorie control, (4) Moderation, and (5) Variety.
Recipe:

Banana Almond Oatmeal

Why this is a Balanced Meal: Carbohydrates (oatmeal + banana) + Protein (almond butter) + Fat (almond butter.

A bowl of oatmeal on its own is simply a big serving of carbs, however, by adding a handful of nuts, or nut butter, you can easily add some protein and fat to help tick all of the boxes. Although not necessary, the addition of fruit can provide some natural sweetness and some added fibre, and a sprinkle of cinnamon  or honey goes a long way to provide flavour without adding any sugar.
