Woodside Mayor Ned Fluet
Dear Neighbor,

I hope you are well and staying safe. Here are some important updates.

Safe Holiday Travel

Health Officers from the Counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma, and the city of Berkeley issued joint recommendations for staying safe during the holidays. The recommendations cover gatherings and travel, with recommended steps to reduce risk.

The Counties recommend that in-person gatherings be kept small, short, stable, and outdoors. Also, nonessential travel, including holiday travel, is not recommended. Travel outside the Bay Area will increase your chance of getting infected and spreading the virus to others after your return.

The full list of recommendations for gatherings and travel can be found here. Please review the recommendations and be safe this holiday season.

Small Property Owner Assistance Program

The San Mateo County Small Property Owner Assistance program established to assist residential property owners impacted by COVID-19 has reduced some application requirements and extended the application deadline to Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Although income and rental price remain priorities for grant making decisions, the following requirements have been eliminated:

·      earn over 50% of income from rental properties
·      income cap
·      eligible units rented at or below fair market rates

See all program details and apply at www.smcstrong.org.

Captain Corpus Receives 2020 Barbara Hammerman Award

This week, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors recognized Captain Christina Corpus, our local Commander, with the 2020 Barbara Hammerman Award for her expertise and leadership in strengthening the intimate partner violence response efforts in San Mateo County.

In addition to serving Woodside, Captain Corpus leads a community policing team, oversees the youth outreach program, and has significantly contributed to the prevention of intimate partner violence over the 25 years she has been in law enforcement. A copy of the Board's resolution can be found here.  Congratulations to Captain Corpus!

Woodside Community Foundation Newsletter

Please take a moment to review the WCF's 2020 newsletter. They had a very busy year and did tremendous work on behalf of our community. Their generous and rapid response to both the COVID-19 pandemic and wildfires should be commended by all of us.

Thank you and have a safe week.
