COMMUNITY INFORMATION

Community Food Drive for Hopelink

Extended through November! 4-Corners.org announced a fundraising drive for Hopelink. This is a no contact replacement for our annual food drive held at QFC.

For the last several years we have held a highly successful food drive for Hopelink at the QFC on Richmond Beach Road.  We averaged more than 2000 pounds of goods each year, all donated by our generous neighbors.  Because of the pandemic it is not possible to safely repeat this performance.  To protect our neighbors and volunteers we have opted to have a virtual fund-raising drive instead.  We are using Hopelink’s own fundraising service and have set a goal of $5000, which we have already met. The goal now is to see if we can beat it by 200%. Please consider donating.

Please consider giving to help fight hunger in this time of great stress and need.  It is a safe and private way to contribute when other means of donating have become difficult to impossible.  Just click the link and check out our page.

4-Corners.org is a 503c3 and a collaboration of the four neighborhoods whose corners meet at Richmond Beach Road and 8th Avenue NW, Hillwood Neighborhood Association, Richmond Beach Community Association. Innis Arden Neighborhood and Richmond Highlands Neighborhood Association.  4-Corners mission is to build community and support the neighborhoods.

RBCA EVENTS

Turkey Month Fun Run

The RBCA will not be hosting the “official” Turkey Day Fun Run this year. We encourage all participants to be safe and to find your own way to exercise. On the Richmond Beach Community Association’s website you can find a map of the walking and running courses. If you want to get a jumpstart on your fitness, the walking route is available on our YouTube channel RichmondBeachTV.
Limited-edition special turkey run shirts featuring our masked runner are for sale on the RBCA website https://richmondbeachwa.org/specialevents/rbshop.php

Holiday Craft Party starts at Home

The annual Children’s Holiday Craft Party is staying home for the holidays. The RBCA is partnering with the Richmond Beach Library to find a new way of bringing this cherished community event into your own home. It all starts with a craft kit, which can be picked up from a special holiday tote located at the Richmond Beach Library starting Thanksgiving weekend. Please check the library’s website for times of operation. Once your family has their craft kit, please watch an instructional video hosted by the Mouttet family on RBCA’s YouTube channel called RichmondBeachTV. The kit will contain easy to create family friendly crafts with limited supplies needed. There is a limited number of kits available.

Shop Local for the Holidays with RBCA

The RBCA has opened a very small online store featuring the RB masks, the Turkey Run shirts and the RB Landmarks map. All purchases will be delivered locally by volunteers. Get a jump on those holiday gifts before they run out. https://richmondbeachwa.org/specialevents/rbshop.php

Holiday Home Decorating Contest

Our Haunted Homes Tour was such a success this Halloween that we want to bring it back for the holidays with Richmond Beach’s first Holiday Home Decorating Contest.
Here’s how it works:

  • RB residents have until December 13th to enter themselves or nominate a neighbor for the contest by emailing our Executive Director at Execdirector@richmondbeachwa.org.
  • All homes entered will be put on a map that folks can print out on the RBCA website starting Dec 14th (www.richmondbeachwa.org).
  • Judging happens on the night of December 20th, winners announced before December 24th.
  • Here are our three award categories:
    • “The Clark W. Griswold” – Is your house visible from outer space? Do your neighbors need to wear eye masks to bed? Is Innis Arden mad at you? This one is all about who has the most lights – GO BIG!
    • “The Winter Wonderland” – Themes, characters, different types of holiday celebrations. Get creative!
    • “The Orca” – Bring the Northwest to the North Pole! This one is all about Northwest themes and tying Richmond Beach into your decorations. Besides, what would an RB holiday lights contest be without some orcas?
  • The winner of each category will get 12 months of bragging rights, a photo of their display on the RBCA website, and a $100 gift card from a local restaurant.
  • Entries will be judged on theme-related showmanship (the “WOW!” factor), coverage (how well your home/yard are covered), & aesthetics (display organization & attention to detail).
