WHY WE EXIST

Currently, around 50% of students every year do not achieve a Level 3 in English in their final secondary school exams. This means they are prevented from even applying to study undergraduate degrees at local universities.

Even aside from exam results, Hong Kong students often do not feel confident or even comfortable speaking English and can be afraid of speaking to new people using the language. Not only are they unable to attend university, these students also add to a growing pool of young people who are unsuitable to work for many international firms due to their lack of spoken English proficiency.

WHAT WE DO

Our Work in Schools

Raising the English proficiency and self-confidence of Hong Kong's young people has always been our mission at Chatteris. In primary, secondary and post-secondary schools across the region, we create an authentic, engaging English language environment for students through interactive lessons, activities, and experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with external organisations.

Our Work in the Community

Chatteris is dedicated to supporting the English language learning of Hong Kong's citizens outside the classroom. Through a number of mutually beneficial partnerships with other NGOs, our tutors provide pro-bono support to a huge range of Community Outreach Projects from a hiking club for less-privileged students, to storytelling sessions for refugee children.

OUR TEAM - CHATTERIS TUTORS

Enthusiastic, hard-working and approachable. Chatteris tutors are all native-level English speakers who are committed to serving and supporting Hong Kong's young people. At Chatteris, we take great pride in the opportunities for professional development available to our tutors. We provide training and support to these recent graduates, allowing them to flourish as they begin their professional journey. We're always looking for new tutors to join our team.

Join our community of Hong Kong professionals who are taking an active role in developing the next generation by supporting 'Chatteris Inspire' - our programme of experiential learning opportunities for our student beneficiaries.
