Changes - U12 Mixed Competition

The 2021 winter season will see the Mixed Under 12 competitions move to a modified 9 vs 9 format, in line with the existing format used for our Girls Under 12 competitions. Please refer the full announcement on the NSFA website.

2021 Trials Update

Recent trials for Junior SAP, Development Squads, Super League and Diamond League teams, have been completed.

We would like to thank all members for their fantastic support of these teams which will number a record 19 teams in 2021.

This is indeed a show-of-support for our efforts to improve coaching and player development opportunities for members seeking to play more football. And play more football they will, with teams to train twice each week.

A special thanks to all coaches that helped at the trials which were well coordinated by our new Technical Director Aron Chapman.

Season 2021 has already started for these teams and is shaping up to be our most exciting and enjoyable season yet for our selective teams!

Note: Team Allocation and Grading Sessions (TAGS) for junior community teams whom train once a week, will be held on Sunday's 14 & 21 February 2021. Session times for age groups will be communicated to members in January.

Norman Griffiths Oval - Pitch Update

Since the Ku-Ring-Gai Council's unanimous approval for the build of a synthetic pitch at NG Oval, progress has included the initial steps of a high-level project schedule creation, and preparation for commencing the tender phase to source a ground builder.

Construction: Scheduled to commence in early August 2021, which enables us to use the ground for the majority of the 2021 season.

Pitch Readiness: Scheduled for beginning of April 2022, which will be just in time for the start of the 2022 season.

Ongoing updates on this project, will be provided in future newsletters.

Sydney Waste Services is the newest Platinum Sponsor of the WPFC, as of August 2020. Their wonderful contribution saw the club able to purchase new playing kits for our Girls and Women's teams, as well as being a direct supporter of our Women's Premier League team via sleeve space - as shown in the below photo of Captain Georgia Campbell (left) and 2019 Players' Player Alice Falconer.

We'd like to give a special thanks to Sydney Waste Services for supporting women's football within our club!

Club Trivia

For its first 50 years, the club was known as the West Pymble Soccer Club. At the 2007 Annual General Meeting, a motion was passed to change the name to West Pymble Football Club to reflect the growth of this most excellent sport in Australia, and to align with the sport's common international naming.

A short read on the origin, in England, of the word Soccer.

A longer and more interesting read, of the word's origin.

Storage Area - Installation of Shelves

We are seeking someone who could volunteer their time to supply and install some new shelves within one part of the clubhouse storage area. If you, or anybody you know is able to help out with this, that would be very much appreciated. For more information on the job at hand, please email: comms@wpfc.com.au.

Seeking Used BBQ

What's better than a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle? A WPFC Sausage Sizzle...well that's what we would say if our current BBQ wasn't on its last burner.

If anyone has - or knows anyone who has - a used, but well-functioning BBQ (hot-plate only, not with grill) that they are no longer using and are willing to donate to the club, that would be greatly appreciated.

We are seeking something similar to the item pictured (click on image for larger version).

Should anyone have one they can donate, please email
secretary@wpfc.com.au.
