Trianon Annual General Meeting

Monday 9th November 7.30pm

As you are hopefully aware Trianon is a registered charity and under charity law we must hold an annual general meeting to present progress on our objectives, adopt our financial accounts, and elect the Trustees for the next 12 months who will take on the various roles of the Management Committee.

Due to Covid however this year's AGM will be very different because of the restrictions on gatherings. Arrangements have been made to conduct the meeting using Zoom video conferencing.

If you would like to take part please send an email request to naomifjames@gmail.com

You will then receive the Zoom invitation link plus a password to access the AGM material on the Trianon Music Group website.

We believe that we have made it relatively simple for any of our members to participate and I would like to encourage as many as possible to take part and support the management team for the effort they have put in, especially in this difficult year.

Clearly you will have to bring your own wine and nibbles but this is your opportunity to hear reports on the Group's activities, achievements and financial health, as well as vote in your management committee for the coming year and adopt a recommendation to keep membership fees the same in 2021/22.

You will also have plenty of opportunity to ask questions about future plans.

All-in-all I would anticipate the proceedings will take about one hour. I hope to 'see' you there.
Simon Fisher
Chiar (and generally good bod!)

Member News

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the deaths of two people linked to Trianon.

In the last week of October we were informed of sudden death of long-term member of Trianon, Colin Wright. Colin was not only a key member of the tenor section but a Vice-President of Trianon. We extend our sympathies to his wife and family and hope to be represented at his funeral.

We also learnt of the death of one of Dominique's younger brothers, Dr Jean-Francois Roche. He, his wife and two young children lived on the French-Swiss border. Dominique was able to arrange an urgent passage to France but was unable to reach her brother in time to be with him. Jean-François was known to many of us, and again we extend our sympathy to both Dominique, and her brother and sisters.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Membership subscriptions are now due for 2020/21.The membership period is from 1st August 2020 to 31st July 2021.

It had been agreed at last year’s AGM to increase subscription rates this year. However, due to the Covid-19 situation, it has now been agreed to keep rates at the same level as last year. There will also be a proposal at this year’s AGM to keep subscriptions at the same level for 2021/22 as well.

Subscriptions cover the printing and postage costs of Trianon News, website costs and other ongoing administrative costs, even though we are not able to make music together at the moment.

GIFT AID
If you are a UK taxpayer and you have not already completed a gift aid form, please consider doing so. Trianon can reclaim 25p tax on every £1 of subscription paid. For a £21 subscription this means reclaiming £5.25 in gift aid, and for a £15 subscription it is £3.75. We can also backdate this for 4 years.

Please contact the treasurer, Carole Cowgill, at treasurer@tmg.org.uk , for a gift aid form, to find out if you have already completed a form, or for more information.
(*These are -: Universal Credit, long term ESA, Pension Credit (different from State Retirement Pension), Housing Benefit and Council Tax reductions. The 2 latter benefits are now usually part of Universal Credit.)
