Latest EA Guidance
Last week we covered that all club activities would be suspended until after the lockdown period ends on Wednesday 2nd December, but the official guidance for clubs and athletes has been finalised by England Athletics and can be found here. In short:
  • You can train with your household or one other person in a public outdoor space
  • 1:1 coaching can take place in a public outdoor space following social distancing measures (Please note: We are seeking clarity on 1:1 coaching with U18s and disability athletes/runners). (Outdoor public places, such as parks, the countryside, beaches and public gardens can stay open, this means that tracks must close during this period).
  • Virtual training sessions can be delivered by qualified coaches
Club AGM - Wednesday 25th November at 19:30 - REGISTER BELOW
This year's AGM will be fully digital on Zoom. To attend you must register by clicking the link here.
The agenda can be found on this link and includes available posts on the committee.
 TRAINING
Well it was good while it lasted... great to see so many faces down at the track last Tuesday for various sessions. A huge thank you to Dave Morgan, Ted Aston, John Barron & Alan Curtis and other for their work in getting the track open again, as well as Simon Allen and fellow volunteers for allowing training sessions to go ahead in a COVID-secure manner.

We will continue to make minor tweaks to make it easier for everyone, especially the volunteers and coaches. GLL have been happy with our operation and we thank them: especially Chris and Steve who have scraped a huge amount of moss off the track, and have been manning the gates.

Further communication around the logistics of training at the track in the future will be announced over coming weeks, but the onus of funding track hire will fall directly on the club - so please ensure prompt payments to ensure we can cover the cost.

Nearly 90 people turned up including coaches, and 60 said they had paid on the covid form. Some will have paid later, and some will have been juniors. I thank everyone for filling in the covid form, and all those who have paid. We have to have COVID-tracing in order to be allowed to hire the track. If you haven't paid yet you can do so here.

S&C with Ellie is Back!
With group training no longer possible, Ellie is restarting the weekly virtual strength & conditioning sessions which were a great hit earlier in the year. No experience necessary, but a mat is required.

 THANK YOU

Thank you to all the club members who have been helping out with The Jericho Road Project - The Feast hot food delivery service...

I am writing to express my thanks to Kent AC for the members who have volunteered with our hot food delivery service to vulnerable people in our community. We began in March as soon as the lockdown began and quickly built up to deliveries on 3 nights of the week delivering up to 400 freshly cooked hot meals to people across Lewisham. There have been 16 Kent AC members involved who have been crucial in making this happen.  Many have been involved since the beginning, others have joined recently. The huge advantage of Kent AC members has been the number who cycle therefore getting the food out quickly and efficiently.

Thanks for the partnership and support.  When we look back on the crazy year of 2020 we will have an amazing legacy of knowing we provided fantastic support for very vulnerable local people.

And we will continue to go out 3 times a week with our incredible volunteer teams for the foreseeable future.  This means that through a bleak winter we will provide hope!

Please contact me (simon.allen@kingschurchlondon.org) if you want to get involved.

Many thanks
Simon
