We've resent our newsletter so nobody misses out on the photos of the Pandavas Carnival - scroll down to have a look!

Week 4: Pandavas Sports Carnival

Our Mini Pandavas Sports Carnival was yesterday, with incredibly energetic levels of participation, and a beautifully supportive mood from our students and staff.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 Restrictions meant parents were not able to participate, but we took a few photos on the day that we'd like to share with you!

Retrospective:

To cover the Term 3 Value: Cleanliness, we learnt how we want to have a bee-like mind going to the good qualities of a person rather than a fly-like mind going to rubbish.

Children learnt about the parts of an insect (bee):
head, thorax and abdomen; antennae, sting, eyes.

A big thank you to  Subhalaksmi and Chris Barnett, parents of Ashoka, Rama and Caitanya for their donation of cup cakes for the Pandavas Sports Day.

The students and staff very much appreciated them!

Kindergarten students doing buddy reading with Year 3-4. Every Monday 3-4 and 5-6 do buddy reading with K alternating with Grades 1-2.

The children really enjoy working together, with our older students taking on the role of a mentor - this opportunity also offers our younger students the opportunity of enhanced learning experiences.

Annabella and Vamana collecting data from their experiment.

The year 5 and 6 class have been learning about the solar system for Science. For one lesson, they were given a selection of resources to design an experiment with.

The aim of the experiment was to answer the question "How can we demonstrate the power of the Sun?" Once the students set up their experiment they collected data and summarised their findings. To conclude the activity, students were asked to reflect on their experiment and consider how it could be improved for the future.

Next Thursday, Bhanu Swami will visit our class as a guest speaker to present the Vedic perspective of the universe to the students. We'll keep you posted.

As we draw to the end of Year 10 for 2020 (week 5 this term being the last week) students will finalise their foray into 'Environmental Change' with an excursion to the river on the farm and investigating the state of the river by searching out the insects, and exploring what the presence of those insects tells us about the state of the river.

Years 7-8 students are presently developing their own geographical enquiry questions regarding water scarcity in a North African nation of their choice. This will help guide them with their online research where in they will be required to analyse causes and impacts of water resource distribution in their chosen country. This task will assist them to better understand the value of water resources closer to home opening a window to local water resources and their vulnerabilities.

Visual art for the 7-8 class mosaic project is progressing nicely with designs submitted thus allowing students to start working on their clay tiles. I am looking forward to watching the work unfold and will post photos in the upcoming news letters.

I welcome the new students who will be starting stage 6 visual art in week 6. I look forward to assisting these students in creating art  in the years 11/12 class for 2021.

My studies of Religion students have completed their final exam for HSC. It was wonderful to see how the students took up the challenge to study for exam conditions and I am happy to say I am proud of their achievements despite the challenges they faced in this academic year.

Our Year 12 students Radhika, Dulali, Palika and Haribhajan are now in the final days of their schooling with all of their coursework complete and just one HSC exam to go! They are looking forward to their Graduation Yajna and Formal.

We are so proud of the achievements of our students. They have worked hard and set a wonderful example for the entire school community even in the midst of so much uncertainty and upheaval during this final year of their schooling.

While we will surely miss our wonderful Year 12s when they go, we also wish them the absolute best in their exams and future endeavours.
