November 2020

My Response to Bonnies Latest Report.

As many of you may already know, Dr. Bonnie Henry and the Province of BC made some significant changes on Thursday. These changes do NOT affect our fitness schedule/operations ... yet. The changes are specific to the following activities only.

Under the heading, Athletic activities the order reads:

Group indoor fitness activities

Businesses, recreation centres or other organizations that organize or operate high risk indoor group physical activities must suspend the following activities:

  • Spin classes
  • Hot yoga
  • High intensity interval training (HIIT)

Guidance on other fitness activities done with a group indoors will need to follow updated guidance that is being developed. These include:

  • Dance studios
  • Martial arts
  • Cheerleading
Now, we wait to hear what the updated changes will be.
For us, Bootcamp is outside so that is a non issue and you are all doing an amazing job of keeping your space and using mostly your own equipment. Remember to sanitize before/after each class. There is always a bottle by my cart.

In the studio, we are doing all the right things,
  1. Step class we only have max 5 people with the garage door and man door open. This is basically outside : )
  2. Release/Restore has a max of 4 on the floor, low/no energy/exertion and well spaced apart. This week we all wore a mask. I thought it went well but do let me know what you thought.
  3. Stretch/Strength only has two in the class at the moment. The rest are on zoom. But again, very low intensity with the door open so we could have 2 more in there or move into the garage studio :)
  4. Tuesday morning Bootcamp is currently small, some are zooming, 1or 2 in the studio. We could move into the garage to make room for up to 5.
To put things into perspective. There are only about 35 active members.  That is made up of personal training members and group fitness. Some of these members only do zoom, some do a combination and many are 1-1 with me. So the people you see are very few and mostly the same people, unlike random people in a store setting.  I really appreciate your amazing ability to clean and respect the social distancing protocol. You guys rock! Lets keep our policies in place and keep the studio open.

We have also been asked to wear a mask in all public spaces where there is potential to encounter another person. So, for that reason, I am asking you all to wear a mask into the studio, until you are settled at your mat, but still keep your 6 foot distancing.

Shifting Our MINDSET: At the end of the day we have 2 options. The first option is we get frustrated because things are not as they once were and we throw our hands in the air and say screw it and let go of our health and fitness gains OR we adapt and adjust our mindset and keep moving forward so that when this whole thing is over, we will be stronger and fitter than ever. I prefer option 2 and my hope is that you do too!

As Dr. Bonnie Henry said, there is low transmission with group fitness classes in a low intensity format. Unfortunately indoor cycling classes are taking a hit because so many small poorly ventilated studios across the world had outbreaks and that lumps us all into the same category.

Once again, thank you so much for your patience and the positive mindset. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I want to make sure you all feel safe to continue with your health/fitness activities.

Congrats! If you made it through this whole email, you are a rock star :) When you come in to the studio next, say the word, "mindset" so I know you read this message and I'll have a prize for you :)
Sincerely,
Nancy :)

Covid Protocol for Classes

Let's continue to do our part. Thanks for doing your part to keep us all safe. I think we are pretty diligent with distancing and sanitizing. Please review the protocol.

We are open and running in a slightly different way. Dr. Bonnie says we can stay open if we follow her guidelines. Here are the guidelines we need to follow.

  • Maintain your 6 foot distance during classes outside and in the studio, even one-one with me. Keep in mind that even if you are in the same bubble with some of the class members, not everyone is in your bubble. I need my 6 feet so please do not be offended if I back away from you.
  • Sanitize your hands before entering the studio, with the sanitizer at the door and on my tailgate on location.
  • Wear a mask in the studio when we are in a group setting, before/after the workout, until you are settled in your station.
  • Don't touch your face.
  • Bring your own equipment when you can.
  • Sanitize the equipment that you borrow from me and I'll spray it again when you leave.
  • Sanitize your hands when you leave.
  • In addition, the studio is sanitized before/after you leave every session. Thanks for helping us stay safe and less anxious.

New session!

Young Living
Most of you know that I often have a favorite exercise or release or Melt technique. Well, I also have a favorite product. Right now, it is this Rose Ointment. I have a recurring rash on my body that comes back every year at this time. Last year, the only thing that worked was a glycerine with rose water. product. That got me wondering if it was the glycerine or rose water that was doing the trick. So I tried the Young Living Rose Ointment, voila! Rash be gone, took the itch right out and softened the dry patchy skin. So... what the heck, put it on my dry disgusting heals and voila! No chemicals or synthetics, smells great and no greasy residue. And there you have my new fave Y.L. product. Loving it! : )
Recipe

Zucchini Fritters with Avocado Dip

Mmmmm... these tasty zucchini fritters are perfect for healthy snacks or appies. I may or may not have eaten them as a meal : /  They are light and fluffy inside, a little crispy on the outside with loads of flavor, especially with the guacamole dip. So delicious 🙂 Easy to make in one bowl and a pan with only 4 ingredients. Can be made gluten free… or not. Veggies, garlic, basil, and oregano combined with egg (protein) cooked in a small amount of good fat (coconut oil). But you could use any oil you like. Serve them up with guacamole (more good fat : ) as a great appetizer for your guests. Or how about... Click here for more.

I am a member of the Young Living Essential Oil Community... are you?

I use all of their cleaning products in the studio and in my home because they are made with thieve’s oils which have anti bacterial and anti-fungal properties. I have replaced all my old cleaning product for the much healthier and more eco friendly product. The Thieves oil has replaced many of the products in my medicine cabinet to support my immune system and ward off the nasty bugs that go around this time of year. The Young Living products are high quality, producing much of their products from their own farms all over the world and with Seed to Seal Guaranteed Partner farms. They control every part of the process to ensure the only thing in the bottles are 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils, unlike some oils that are man made synthetics created in a lab. They are also registered by Health Canada as Natural Health Products (NHPs).

If you would like to start using chemical free cleaners for your house and your body, I can set you up with your own account so you can get 24% off all your products + an extra 10% off the starter kits until Dec 2. You can order whenever you like, collect the reward points and get free stuff every month when your order a minimum of 100PV. Although, you do NOT have to order every month if you do not want the reward points and free bonus items in your shipment. Just let me know how I can help you get started with these high quality products  : )
