eNews Update
November 11, 2020
As we look ahead at the coming weeks at Spirit of Joy, we share with you the importance of our worship on November 15th.  This is our traditional Commitment Sunday, with the opportunity to make your personal commitment as a love response to our Lord.  We encourage in-person worship, but also understand that there are those who are watching the live stream at home each week.  The opportunity to send a virtual commitment card is available on our website (click here).  We are praying that all will respond to this important time in the life of our congregation.  "Freely you have received, freely give!"
Then on Sunday, November 22 we will celebrate our Thanksgiving worship at 9am on the land.  Plan to share in this time of giving God thanks.  In the midst of these difficult times, we give thanks for our Lord and the presence of God in every day.

Weekly events:

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

~Isaiah 40:1-2

Coming together to help our community

From now until December 10th, Spirit of Joy will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items to replenish the food pantry at the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet, as well as new, unwrapped toys or games for Share Your Holidays.  Please bring your donations to Sunday Worship on the land, or drop off at the church office during office hours. If you are unable to bring your items to the land or the church, but wish to participate, please contact Christy Serra at 760-917-1023 and she will come pick up your items and deliver them for you.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain.

~Isaiah 40:1-2

PLEDGE CARD AND GIVING STATEMENTS ON THE WAY...
via snail mail!

This week we will snail-mail your 2020 Offering Pledge Card along with your year-to-date giving statement so that you can check your actual giving with your giving pledge or goals for the year... as well as checking for errors on our part.

Rather than completing and returning the enclosed Pledge Card, you can submit your pledge online at http://sojchurch.com (click on the link to "make your 2020 offering pledge").

If you have any questions or problems, notify us at finance@sojchurch.org.

Blessings, and Shalom!

Gods Work Our Hands

Much like everything else in 2020 our annual “God’s Work Our Hands” will look a little different this year. Rather than join together for one day of giving back we are going to spread God’s love throughout the entire month of November. Choose your own adventure or join forces to help make our community and world around us a better place. Post your event for people to join and share your experience by sending updates throughout the month.

We are excited to announce that we will be opening the back room and restroom of our church facility for meetings, Prayers and Squares, and Bible Studies beginning the week of November 8th.  Each group will be able to have a maximum of 8 persons at this time.  Everyone will receive a temperature check and be asked to wear a mask.  Each group meeting will be asked to use the cleaning agents available in the back room for cleaning after each gathering.  We look forward to having our gatherings, and ask that everyone follow the safety guidelines that have been in place at Spirit of Joy since we began our worship together on the church building site.  This will include Prayers and Squares, Women’s Spirits of Grace, Monday Morning Bible Study (we may add an additional Bible Study in future weeks), Saturday Men's Bible Study, and Women's Bible Study.
Safety Procedure for Worship
We encourage your arrival between 8-8:45am for set up.  Everyone is encouraged to wear masks on entry and departure on the church property.  Bring your own chairs, pop-ups, umbrellas, and bottled water.  To insure your safety we will have a table with prepackaged communion (1st and 3rd Sunday each month), bulletins (also a digital bulletin is available on your electronic devices), and temperature check.  Please practice social distancing of at least 6ft of separation per family unit.  Trash cans are available to dispose of all trash upon leaving.  If for any reason you are not feeling well, at higher risk, or uncomfortable with attending, we invite you to enjoy the service live-streamed.  If you prefer staying in your car, there will be a designated area for you to do so.
