"Proudly Supporting our Communities"

Community News

From the Board....

Welcome to our last email of this memorable year. People are busy again connecting with friends, relatives and tourists. Some will be slow out of the blocks and others unable to wait. Let's care for each other, appreciate our great communities, and be prepared for the fire season.

Enjoy the read, and stay safe.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, the Dja Dja Wurrung people, and we pay our respect to the elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge their living culture and their unique role in the life of this region. We express our gratitude that we share this land together, our sorrow for some of the cost of that sharing, and our hope and belief that we can move to a place of equity, justice and partnership together.

Supporting Local Business

Another one of our business program graduates has relaunched their foodie business and they are getting great reviews.

The Blackbird Cafe have teamed up with the crew from Welshman's Reef Winery to present regular outdoor dining events with live music.
Keep an eye on their website  for future events.

After graduating from the Business program, Gemma from The Blackbird said "Clare's refreshing and down-to-earth approach to business and learning was transformative for us.  The main take-away was clarity around who we were, what we wanted to achieve and what the future could potentially hold.... I cannot recommend the course enough."

This Small Business Action Recovery Program was a big hit earlier this year.  We know that small business has been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and this has an ongoing ripple effect within our communities.
We have secured the services of small business expert Clare Fountain from Sorted. to mentor, inspire and coach another 16 businesses in 2021 - and applications are now open.

Laanecoorie-Dunolly Cricket Club

It's always great to be able to support local sporting clubs, and this one was no different!

Laanecoorie-Dunolly Cricket Club received funds to help put towards their new playing shirts, for both the junior and senior players.  We hope this gives them an edge in their games and we get to see them in some finals games in the new year.

New Playspace for Harcourt

The Mount Alexander Shire Council funded the new playspace in Harcourt township in partnership with the Victorian Government, with donations from the Harcourt Progress Association made possible by a Maldon & District Community Bank grant.

"We are so pleased to have contributed to getting this great space to where it is today; it's a wonderful addition to Harcourt," said Bank Executive Officer Karly Smith.

There are some beautiful surprises scattered throughout the play space, including an oak leaf seat and apple-seed footstool crafted by Bendigo artist Linton Torr.  The space also incorporates a meeting place for listening to and telling stories.

Branch News

Movember

We are super proud of the fella's at our branch, and here's just one of the reasons why!

Men are facing a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. They're dying too young – much before their time. This year, Adam & Kyle from our Maldon branch are taking action by raising funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Donate online using the link below or drop a few coins into the collection tin at the branch and we can be the difference. We can stop men dying too young
.

Donations are still being accepted and are tax-deductible. Click here to donate to Maldon & District Community Bank's Movember team.
