Provence Rosé Buy of the Year!
We
first began ranging Rameau D'or on the back of an 'outstanding,
ravishing rosé' review by Huon Hooke on the 2015 and have featured every
vintage since. This, to be clear and despite our offer price, is their
premium Cotes De Provence wine, not the lower, IGP de Méditerranée
version that retails at this price. In just a few years it has become
one of the most popular brands in the premium Côtes de Provence AOC
category, generally considered the pinnacle of rosé in France and indeed
the world.
Significantly, it has been more difficult sourcing decent volumes of
this in the last six months than it has been selling it. The 2019 is
another beauty and on the back of the most recent container just
landing, Patrick Eckel penned this beauty:
The wine is a blend of Grenache (70%) and Cinsault (30%) and gives a
pretty light pink to orange in the glass. The nose is generous and
floral with wild strawberry, clotted cream and faint citrus notes. The
palate has an initial softness with candied apple and a continuation of
the strawberry fruits on the nose before a tautness of rhubarb and red
cherry gives structure and texture to the mid palate. Citrus flows
through to finish with good length and is joined by a final
embellishment of red fruits. Drink: 2020-2022; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $32;
Closure: Screwcap;
Rating: 93 Points; Patrick Eckel; Wine Reviewer
And here's the bit that is going
to get you tickled (a pale) pink. We bring this gorgeously fresh,
brilliantly packaged, top-end-of-town Cotes De Provence Rosé back from
$32 full tote odds, down to $22.99. This is without doubt the premium
Rosé offer of the year.
