Rachel's Story, Part 1

Small schools are often big families, which is certainly the case where “Rachel” has attended since she was little.  While no family, school, or church is perfect, life has been good for her - she has always been surrounded by godly family members, Christian friends, and solid, stable adults.  Like we have all experienced as teenagers, there have been the occasional annoying classmates, social drama, and difficult homework assignments from time to time, but nothing she couldn’t handle - and handle successfully.  Life was actually going pretty well – until the day when suddenly it wasn’t.  Nothing could have prepared Rachel for the largest shockwave that can ripple through any school community – the unexpected, untimely death of one of her classmates.

One of the most traumatic experiences of youth is facing the ugly reality of death’s finality, as well as our own mortality, for the first time.  How would her classmate's death impact Rachel?  Stay tuned for more tomorrow.
