OUR FIRST WINSTON CHURCHILL FELLOW

The College recently marked the admission of our first Winston Churchill Fellow, Michael Cowan (U70), with a socially distanced tree planting, echoing Winston's planting of his Oak in 1959. Winston Churchill Fellowships are awarded to those who have made gifts to the College totaling over £5m. Michael has been the College's most generous donor since Mr A P Møller. He also volunteers his time for Churchill, having served on its Investment Advisory Committee for over 20 years, as well as being a member of the Development Board.

CCRFC NEEDS YOUR HELP

The current lock-down may have temporarily shut down College sport, but Churchill College Rugby Club (CCRFC) are planning for the future by launching their first ever crowdfunding campaign. They urgently need to raise £2,000 to give their pitch the makeover it deserves and help equip the club for future success! Find out more about their campaign and the student team behind the appeal.

Dr Ken Livesley
DR KEN LIVESLEY, 30 MAY 1926 – 25 OCTOBER 2020

The College is saddened to announce the death of Emeritus Fellow of Churchill, Dr Ken Livesley, on 25 October, aged 94. Ken was a pioneer of the use of digital computers to solve engineering problems. He was a Founding Fellow and one of the first Directors of Studies in Engineering.

We had many enquiries from people unable to attend as to whether our online event discussing our Founder and issues of race and empire, 'Opening the Conversation', with Professor Priya Gopal and Professor Richard Toye, would be recorded. It was and is now available to view on our YouTube channel.

Dr Stuart Warren
A STUDENTSHIP IN MEMORY OF STUART WARREN

The College is fundraising in order to provide support for an outstanding PhD student from sub-Saharan Africa to undertake research in chemistry at Churchill College, in memory of Dr Stuart Warren (19382020), one of our longstanding fellows in Chemistry who sadly died earlier this year.
