Dear <<First Name>>,

Just released and in limited quantities, this very well made wine from 100% Sangiovese by the Tua Rita stable; which includes Redigaffi the first Italian wine to be awarded 100 pts by Robert Parker for the 2000 vintage.

Twenty Eighteen is widely regarded to be a great vintage.

The producer’s reputation has flourished over recent years among collectors and specialists with no signs of slowing its pace – in May this year, Tua Rita was named as a “benchmark” Italian producer by Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate, one of the producers that “represent the very best of Tuscany.”

2018 was blessed with a cool autumn on the Tuscan coast that played into Tua Rita’s strengths, the characteristic concentration and intensity from their iron-rich soils refreshed with elegance and freshness that will undoubtedly prove very long-lived indeed.

This is a wine that can be drunk in near term however also will benefit from a year or 2 in the cellar. Monica Larner (Wine Advocate) is positively gushing about this wine awarding 93 pts and proclaiming  "a wine that always punches above its weight"

There are only approx 3000 cases produced and UK allocations are restricted, so there will not be much around at this price which is the best on the UK market.

When in 1984 Rita and Virgilio purchased the property that was to become Tua Rita, the land and the buildings on it were only to be the setting for a life together lived in contact with nature, farming nature’s bounty. It was their overwhelming passion for making wine that changed those plans.
The couple tended the original two hectares of vineyard with such scrupulous care that Tua Rita became one of Italy’s first successful producers of vins de garage. In barely a decade, the hectares under vine had risen to nine, at the start of the new millennium there were twenty and today Tua Rita farms some thirty hectares planted to vine. Estate and cellar went from strength to strength, driven by Rita and Virgilio’s commitment. Meanwhile the winery’s image was flourishing under the skilful hand of Stefano Frascolla, husband of the owners’ daughter Simena, who herself became involved in managing the enterprise following the death of her father in 2010. The estate’s name is a simple inversion of Rita Tua’s given name and surname.

“2018 is a vintage of great structure … an important vintage”
2018 Perlato del Bosco Rosso

100% Sangiovese

A classic Tuscan style but from the 'seaside'
Obtained from a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon until the 2011 growing year, when it returned to its original Sangiovese-only format. All the grape’s ravishing sensory potential is gently coaxed out by the very special soil types and climate conditions on the Tua Rita estate.
Perlato del Bosco Rosso is Sangiovese at its entrancing best.

(Wine Advocate) - 93 pts

"The 2018 Perlato del Bosco is a pure expression of Sangiovese that can be considered its own little island of winemaking within the Tua Rita portfolio. Sangiovese is always a gamble when cultivated within close proximity of the coastline. But in the deft hands of the Tua Rita team, the grape offers a new side that is worlds apart from the aromas and flavors we associate with other celebrated expressions made in Montalcino and Chianti Classico, both located further inland. This wine reminds me of the Poggio Valente by Fattoria Le Pupille (also 100% Sangiovese from Maremma). That's a wine that always punches above its weight, as is this. In fact, both Perlato del Bosco and Poggio Valente are guided by consulting winemaker Luca D'Attoma. This wine is aged in large oak casks (20 hectoliters) to allow for slow and careful integration. Past vintages went into barrique, but one of the big changes recently was to move this wine to bigger, more traditional oak vessels that are better suited to this this sometimes-difficult grape that can easily go flat with too much oxygen. These results speak of Tuscany, and you get wild berries and cherries with some of the brambly, Mediterranean notes that give the wine a lasting sense of place."

"Tua Rita’s most improved wine and I find it close to the level of exalted wines like Redigaffi or Giusto di Notri."
