WHY WE DO, WHAT WE DO
We're honored to be able to offer free-of-charge animal assisted therapy visits that benefit people at time of need and truly have a lasting impact. Helping others is at the core of what we do. Last year, Jocelyn was diagnosed with leukemia. We met her at Rady's Children Hospital in San Diego when she was at her worst time. She had just starting her 20 plus day stay when she discovered an instant connection with AJ, the youngest #HealingHooves member. AJ was able to help her forget, just for a bit, how sick she was feeling, the pain, the future and so much more.Earlier this year, AJ and Jocelyn reunited again at the Mitchell Thorp Walk. Their connection was undeniable once again. So last month, after Jocelyn's family had done a lemonade stand she wanted to personally give a check to AJ and spend time with her friend. Her selfless act of kindness inspire us to continue moving our mission forward.

We all know that animals make us feel good. Now we have medical facts to back-up their impact on our health. At 1 FUR 1, we not only track the number of sessions we support, but also the health benefits they provide. Our research shows that close to 70% of children and seniors with disabilities have experienced positive health benefits from specially trained mini horses and/or dogs. Our group animal assisted activity programs impact over 10,000 people per year. We need to raise funds to be able to continue our charitable mission.
