Finally...Spanish!

A few recent conversations motivated us to finally launch our chapter into the bilingual game. The first was when a local Principal directly told us, "We love Safe Families, but I think you're going to need some more Spanish-speaking volunteers if you want to help the families at our school!" The second was a conversation with Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha county when they asked us if we could support some of their homeowners...but they specifically requested biligual volunteers.

Since then, we have seen God provide in huge ways! Pastor Paco Cojon of Elmbrook en Espanol has excitedly introduced Safe Families to his congregation, making his congregation our first Spanish-speaking Partner Church.

Finally, one of our amazing volunteers, Ellen Frens, has agreed to step into a new role as our Spanish intake worker. For the first time ever, a Spanish-speaking parent in crisis can now call our number and reach someone who speaks Spanish. All they need to do is call 414-345-8715 and press extension 1 for the Spanish line.

Washington County Update

On Oct. 27, 2020, we held a Drive Thru Meet and Greet at Community Church of West Bend to meet non-profit leaders, school support staff, and other community leaders of Washington County. Crossway Church generously donated the lunch for the day.

Amazingly, we got to connect with around ten organizations on that day. Then we were able to connect with about 14 organizations during zoom meetings a few days later.
The best part about this update is that a few days after this event, we got our first referral from a Washington county non-profit. We were able to match a mom in crisis with a Family Friend volunteer within a few days!

With three partner churches in Washington county (and growing), we are feeling so curious and excited for the future of Safe Families in Washington County!

Save the Date
We love and appreciate our volunteers and donors so much! Please join us as we celebrate what God has done through you! You will drive-thru @BCRC to pick up dinner & Gifts & Then attend a Virtual Comedy Show by Fishsticks Comedy at 7 pm.
Family Friendships
Family Friend Spotlight: The Divine Family
We approved The Divine family (Elmbrook Church) as Family Friends in June of 2020. Andrea and Lucas have three kids: Cubbins, Daisy, and Kian. Their family was motivated to join Safe Families because they were looking for ways to be a blessing to families in their community who may be struggling at this time.

They said, "We have resources and love to share and Jesus calls us to love others, so that is what we will do."

It took a few months for them to get matched with a parent, but they finally got matched with a mom of two on October 20. Since then, the mom and the Divines have gotten together five times. FIVE TIMES! Wow! One of those times was to all go trick or treating together. Awwwww! We are absolutely just thrilled to have the Divine family as volunteers, and we are so thankful to have their strengths and personalities on our team!

Watch this video from one of our own Milwaukee-area Family Friends, Jessica Frost, as she describes what it's like to be a Family Friend in her experience.
"Imagine...you’re an overwhelmed young mom with a 1-year-old, struggling to find/ keep a job, desperately in search of housing and childcare, pregnant with twins, and due to give birth any day. What would you do?"
