Comtesse Marion
100% Pinot Noir
Languedoc, France

Stock up on this wine for Thanksgiving!

We tasted the Comtesse Marion a couple weeks ago and loved it. It's a from the Languedoc region which is in south central France, an area known to produce beautiful wines at moderate prices. This wine maintains the beautiful earthy
characteristics found in Pinot and has the added layer of beautiful red fruit which means it can be enjoyed with or without food. We liked it so much we bought a bunch of it for Thanksgiving. It's a winner for the price. $14.99 or $13.50 with a case purchase.

Try it and let me know what you think!

Quinta Do Infantado Vertical Tasting
Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional
Douro, Portugal

Another Louis/Dressner Selection!

These wine are made by one of the worlds best Port producers (which unfortunatley have not been made available to us yet.) Although these are not "Port" they do consist of all the same grapes used in Quinta de Infantados fortified wines. These are perfect cold weather wines. A delightful palate full of berries, plum and holiday spices. This is a more food-friendly wine, as acidity is bold against dark tannin. Lamb and pork are great pairings as would be eggplant and roasted root veggies.

All three vintages cost under $25 each! You could try all 3 vintages for under $75 and see how this wine ages over the years.

Revolution Brewing
Fistmas
Spiced Ale
6.5% ABV

Tis the season, I suppose! We have a, let’s call it, special, relationship with holiday beers here in Cleveland. In fact, there’s a bit of advice I always give to new coworkers around this time of year. When a customer comes in, asking “Where’s the Christmas Ale?” it’s a good assumption that they’re talking about the Christmas Ale. You know the one, with the red baubles on the packaging brewed by those old stalwarts down on W25th street. The one that folks love to opine about, that this year’s batch is way worse/better than last years, or I remember the original recipe, ya know, before they changed it. No way it was only 7%!! We like to think know this beer; the honey is in our veins, the nutmeg, our bones. But here's truth: Christmas Ale is a construct, its various conceptual elements malleable. We see our own structures and bias placed upon the can or bottle or glass and it seems to take shape, and, in this case, the shape of orange peel and a kiss of ginger. We think we have empirical evidence of nuttiness and caramel and, do-I-detect-a-triffle-of-hops? but all we have is subjectivity and Santa wearing a barrel. But you can take comfort because the twinkle in Santa’s eye hints at something we are starting to realize even as all our paradigms start to crumble around us: Christmas ale can be, and is, anything we want it to be.

Nortico Alvarinho
100% Albarino
Minho, Portugal

It might have been the fact that it was 80 degrees this past weekend, or that I celebrated a little too hard when we got the election results on Saturday, but today I am craving something easy and light, and this Albarino doesn't disappoint. Nothing overly complex, just some nice yellow apple and lime notes, with refreshing salinity to wash it all down.

Ovum "To Love Somebody"
100% Gewürztraminer
Rogue Valley, Oregon

This is such a beautiful and fun wine. It's drenched in honeyed, dried fruit, bright citrus and stone fruits that will make your mouth water. There is also this mineral quality to the wine that balances it out. And don't worry, if you are afraid it's going to be too sweet, it's definitely dry! Fun fact, the hight the ABV %, the less sweet it is. Anything below 10.5%-11%, you will see more sweetness in the wine!
