One on One
The Covid epidemic has brought more than a few changes to how ministry is normally done. Working with large groups of kids isn’t possible at the moment, but one on one mentoring ministry is: I have been challenged in afterschool ministry to seek out 2 or 3 young men in each group to devote more time to. Over the years the Lord has given us several. Here are a few of those investments the Lord has allowed me to make.
John- This 13 year old made a profession of faith in Jesus at camp in 2019. After camp I spent several weeks with him doing weekly discipleship. John moved away last December to a town about an hour away. Along with connecting with him through messenger I recently went up to see him and encouraged him in his faith. Pray John will grow in Jesus with other believers there.
Mark- This 19 year old attended Impact Kids afterschool ministry in Colorado Springs in 2010. I have spent many hours with him over the last 9 years routinely sitting down with him over coke and a cheeseburger. I have shared Jesus with him many times as he has continually struggled with depression. Pray God will use this friendship and that this young man will put his trust in Jesus and find direction for his life.
Don- This fourteen year old first came to Impact Kids ministry as a Kindergartener a few years ago. Don has gone to camp many times with me. I continue to try and meet with Don when I can. Don has been reaching out to me lately because his grandpa got real sick and went to the hospital. I am praying this confession of faith he made in Jesus a few years ago will turn into a life of discipleship.
Torie- is a 26 year old man finishing up a degree in education. I first met him as a high schooler 10 years ago when he and his youth group came to lead VBS’ with Danae and I. Torrie and I regularly connect via text and an occasional phone call. I love praying for him, keeping him accountable and being a mentor. Torie loves Jesus and is passionate about surrendering his life to God’s call.

On my Heart
I would love to see Jesus followers begin to invest in young people that are living without fathers in the home. A study shows that 85% of kids who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes. Other studies have shown high percentages exist across the country for kids living in a home without dad. Could this be a golden opportunity for the Church to fill a gap in our society?

Praise and Prayer
- Praise Jesus! He is before all things and in Him all things hold together! Colossians 1:17
- Praise God: We are connecting with more and more people in Crowley. Pray for gospel fruit
- Pray for Randy- a gentlemen I have shared Jesus with but gave no indication of faith. Doctors say Randy has 8 weeks to live. Pray for me as I follow up with him
- Pray afterschool ministry can start soon, but if not pray for clever ideas in reaching kids and families through the local church
