A message in the new lockdown
from our minister Matt
Please read Revd Matt Lunn's letter, in which he reflects on the opportunity for us to share the Christmas message differently this year through the Methodist Church's Christmas campaign #GodisWithUs, which seeks to share people's stories about their walk with God in this extraordinary year.

CARIS Haringey
Christmas Appeal
In previous years we would have held a Gift Service at which we would have brought donations for Christian Action and Response in Society (CARIS), but as the Gift Service may not be happening, you are encouraged to take donations directly to CARIS at St Ann's Church Hall, N15 5JH - see this page in Wellspring for further details. Alternatively, arrangements can be made for your gifts to be collected (see page 3 in Wellspring).

Climate Change -
two Christian groups seeking solutions
|
|
Brian Simpson's article in Wellspring highlights the work of two Christian organisations, A Rocha and Green Christian, who are working to develop a Christian reponse to the challenges of climate change. Hopefully, you will find support for your personal action on carbon reduction in the work of these groups.

For better or for worse
The centre spread of Wellspring reproduces (with permission) an infographic from issue 39 of Delayed Gratification, the Slow Journalism quarterly magazine, which looks at what has changed - for better or for worse - from April to June. It's interesting to see which of these we identify with, which we are encouraged by, and which cause particular concerns. How may they have changed since the end of June? How about doing your own version to analyse what has changed 'For better and for Worse' in our own lives - or in our households - or in our church?

Youth President election -
support our local candidate Zariel!
Campaign manager Matt explains more: Zariel attends Middle Lane and our Gliders Youth group. He is standing to be the next Youth President of the Methodist Church. Wouldn't it be great if one of our circuit members became the next Youth President?
Zariel was featured in the Circuit online Morning Worship on 8th November, so many of us will have seen him taking part in the reading, as well as seeing some election information. Normally, voting takes place at the annual 3Generate conference, but as this is online this year, voting (very carefully scrutinised!!) will take place online. Matt explains the process: "To allow this to happen Zariel needs your help and support. Our children and young people aged 8-23 years old can vote for Zariel. Children and young people aged 8-17 need to be registered by a parent, but 18-23s can register themselves. They need to be registered by 15th November to enable them to vote between the 21st November and 21st December. Let's not miss out on this great opportunity for Zariel.”

Future editions of Wellspring
Because the landscape keeps changing, the spacing of Wellspring is not so regular at the moment, but we hope to produce a Christmas/New Year issue sometime around the middle of December, when arrangements can be given with more certainty. But Megan and Gill would be happy to receive contributions for this issue at any time. It’s really helpful to have a word before the piece is written, to discuss length, any illustrations, and an idea of content. Many thanks!
