FREE VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING UNTIL END OF DECEMBER!

New for Teachers!

For years teachers have brought their classes into Challenger Learning Center of Alaska for a simulated mission experience. Students are challenged throughout the program, with hands on research they must complete and relay back to their partners to save the food source on Phobos or return their sick crew back to base. Using real life scenarios and STEM skills, combined with being in a realistic space shuttle and mission control creates an exciting environment for students to gain confidence while learning.
While we could never replace the simulation rooms at our center, and hopeful to run them again soon, we are excited to extend these mission experiences in a virtual manner. The new virtual missions allow us to reach many more schools around Alaska and keep our teachers and students safe during the pandemic.
Destination Mars and Destination Moon are 1 hour new mission stories, administered online, in real-time by a Challenger Flight Director. These programs feature small group and whole class activities, while allowing the students to login from anywhere. Virtual missions are perfect for remote, hybrid and socially distant classrooms!

The online, STEM experiences take the entire class on journeys to reach collective goals as they research, work together to answer questions, and collaborate to find solutions to urgent challenges. From the moment they receive their briefing from the Commander, the classroom turns into a real-world STEM workplace- each student transforming into and working as a STEM professional.
Classroom Adventures are computer-based simulation experiences controlled by the students as they interact with the technology, complete group activities, and discuss solutions with their classmates. The experience only moves to the next phase when the teacher sees the students collectively meet critical milestones. Embedded throughout the simulations are digital elements including lab experiments, mapping challenges, videos, and articles. The combination of these elements creates a multi-faceted interactive digital experience in and out of the software.
WEEK LONG VIRTUAL ACADEMIES
We have put together a series of virtual, week-long programs, based on our award-winning Alaska Meets Bermuda program. This program brings a CLCA Flight Director virtually into your in-person or virtual classroom for the week, 1 1/2 hours a day. Through teamwork and collaboration, students explore a variety of topics and work together to brainstorm solutions and solve challenges using the materials we send to them. There are several premade academies to choose from or customize one based on your topic needs. If you prefer the program can also be anywhere from 1 day to the full 5 days a week, and can be expanded to 2, 3 or even 4 hours of online instruction/activity time with the students and our Flight Director.
