Friday 13th November
How was your first week of lockdown 2.0? Ours was a mix of sunny walks, spending way too much on Francis Road (justification: #supportlocal) and the odd takeaway pint by the canal. But first:

2. We forgot the grocery stores... Duh
Last week, we meant to direct you to our revised round-up of some of the best indie E11 and E10 grocery stores - and totally forgot until we were in Meatlove on Saturday queuing up for their delectable sirloin. Anyway, for what it's worth, here's a personal round-up of our own 12 most-used local shops. You'll have your own faves too, of course: let us know on social media.

We don't normally point you in the direction of other publications, but you might be interested in Leytonstoner editor Stephen Emms's comprehensive guide to neighbouring Stratford, just published in Conde Nast Traveller. Read it online here.

4. How are the lockdown walks going?
So we took our own advice and hung out in Here East this week (doesn't it look pleasingly autumnal, above?). Shame about our chicken burger at Randy's though: the thigh was a bit dry, the bun not as fresh as we'd hoped. Still, a plastic pint is always a thrill in lockdown and the whole strip is open for takeout - which is itself something. Also, if you missed our feature, check out the 400-year old bell tower, the hip new E11 cafe on the park and the nature reserve that's perfect for some serious contemplation.

Psst! We're sad Masala India aren't open during lockdown, but you can still read their fascinating local success story here.

And once again, thanks to all those that have donated this month: lockdown makes it even more difficult for us in maintaining sponsors and advertisers, so if you enjoy what we do, please consider a donation here, or better still, if you're a business, please work with us on a sponsored post (email info@leytonstoner.london for more info).
