Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Sunday I went to the 8th grade confirmation Mass and was moved by the thought of just how much work goes into preparing students for moments like these...their hearts, their minds. Parents and sponsors thank you for encouraging these children to continue their faithful journey and for supporting their commitment to a Christian life. Teachers, thank you for preparing our students for their walk with God and for doing it with love! Click HERE for confirmation pictures.

This week we bid farewell to the guardian angels God sent us to start our school year. The ChACErs will be going home for the holidays and will most likely be ready to travel to Chile after the new year. Ella, Amy, John, Dori and Adriana have donated their time and talent to the Holy Cross community these past months. Like I have mentioned before, in a year of so much uncertainty and need, we are forever grateful for the contributions of the ChACErs! To read more about their stay here at Holy Cross and their future plans, click HERE

Thank you for participating in our COVID-19 Check-In Survey. If you indicated an interest in remote learning and shared your contact information with us, we will be in touch with you this week.

This week our 5th grade class will plan and attend the mass with the Pre- K Traditional class. If you have a child in either of those grades, you are welcome to come and celebrate Mass in the church, otherwise you can view the live-stream Mass via Zoom, please look for the link later in this newsletter.

Have a blessed week!

Queridos padres y guardianes,

Pope Francis recently released the third encyclical letter of his papacy entitled Fratelli Tutti, On Fraternity and  Social Friendship… In Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis states that professing faith in God as the creator of all human beings, or simply recognizing that all people possess an inherent dignity, has concrete consequences for how people should treat one another and make decisions in politics, economics and social life… The encyclical takes its title from St. Francis of Assisi’s “fraternal openness,” which, the pope says, calls on people “to acknowledge, appreciate and love each person, regardless of physical proximity, regardless of where he or she was born or lives.”
Pope Francis reminds us that the Gospel calls us to welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, listen to and give a hand up to the poor, defend the rights of all, and ensure that each person, at every stage of life, is valued and invited to contribute to the community. It also calls us to support public policies that do so on a larger scale... At the heart of the encyclical letter is a meditation on Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan, particularly on how Jesus responds to the question, “Who is my neighbor?” Pope Francis stresses that, instead of identifying one’s neighbor, we must become a neighbor to all, especially those most in need of aid.
