Troubled thoughts

We've been through a lot in 2020. Our families, the country and the world just need a break. If stress, fear and anxiety are troubling you, here are sneak peeks at some tips, heartening words from saints and Scriptures to ease your mind.

JUST ONE MINUTE

“He himself bore our sins in his body upon the cross, so that, free from sin, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24) It is a profound mystery that we have been healed and set free to live as children of God by Jesus’ suffering. Each of us in a way has also borne the pain of other's sins. We have all been wounded. If we let Jesus into those wounded spaces he can recreate them, heal them and make them spaces for healing of others.

Reflection: Have you ever been able to connect in a deeply compassionate way with someone’s pain because you had been through something similar? That is God's grace in action. Will you allow God to continue to heal and remake the wounded spaces in you for the healing of yourself and others? Visit with the Lord today about your moment of deep compassionate connection and where you desire deeper healing.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary

After her husband died during a Crusade, she became a Third Order Franciscan in Germany and founded a hospital. She is the patron of bakers, young brides, widows, those falsely accused, countesses and secular Franciscans.
