Chablis Magnums

Domaine William Fevre

The reliably impressive Domaine William Fevre sits in a perfect sweet-spot of quality and value. The best wines here consistently rank alongside the likes of Raveneau and Dauvissat, yet are offered at a fraction of the price. Very few magnums are produced but they are ideal was to mature and serve these wines. Order now for delivery within approximately 2-3 weeks.

2017 Chablis Grand Cru
Bougros Cote Bouguerots

12 Mag @ £365 per 3 Mag Case, in bond
£454.07 duty & VAT paid

This is perennially one of my favorite wines and one that I buy virtually every vintage. The 2013 version displays a deft touch of oak that again is sufficiently subtle as to allow the ripe and very fresh white and yellow orchard fruit, sea breeze and iodine scents to shine. There is excellent punch as well as fine detail to the almost aggressively mineral-driven flavors that possess good power but also a lovely sense of refinement on the wonderfully long and impeccably well-balanced finish. Exquisite. 2021+

2015 Chablis Grand Cru
Bougros Cote Bouguerots

18 Mag @ £340 per 3 Mag Case, in bond
£424.07 duty & VAT paid

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Cote de Bouguerots was the standout wine when I tasted the range of William Fevre from barrel. Now in bottle, the nose has closed down, but there remains a brooding intensity here and superb mineralité. The palate is very well balanced with a touch of orange zest and quince on the entry. There is a keen line of acidity here and quite a powerful finish that lingers long in the mouth. Give this 3 or 4 years in bottle and it should offer another 10 years of drinking pleasure. 2020-2032

2015 Chablis Grand Cru
Les Clos

18 Mag @ £340 per 3 Mag Case, in bond
£424.07 duty & VAT paid

Once again there is just enough wood present to warrant mentioning on the strikingly fresh, cool and pure nose of mineral reduction, ripe pear, sea water and floral aromas. There is flat out remarkable power to the highly energetic flavors that also display ample amounts of dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the intensely mineral-driven, explosive and hugely long finish that is unusually dry for the vintage. It's interesting as one can sense an elevated level of alcohol but surprisingly there is no associated finishing warmth to speak of. 2023+

2013 Chablis Grand Cru
Les Clos

6 Mag @ £285 per 3 Mag Case, in bond
£358.07 duty & VAT paid

The perfumed and penetrating nose is unusually expressive for a young Les Clos and there is so much iodine, mineral reduction and oyster shell nuances present that this could be from nowhere else but Chablis. The big, powerful and imposingly scaled flavors ooze both dry extract and a pungent minerality yet the balance is perfect on the intensely saline finish that is markedly dry but once again not really austere. This should be terrific though note that patience will be required. Don't miss! 2023+

2013 Chablis Grand Cru
Les Preuses

15 Mag @ £280 per 3 Mag Case, in bond
£352.07 duty & VAT paid

The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses has an austere, wet granite, nettle and saline nose that is nicely poised. The palate is fresh and crisp with a keen line of acidity, a potent marine influence here with bundles of crisp Granny Smith apples mixed with lemongrass and lime toward the tensile finish. This is one of the best wines from William Fevre in 2013. 2015-2029

2013 Chablis Grand Cru
Valmur

18 Mag @ £300 per 3 Mag Case, in bond
£376.07 duty & VAT paid

Here too the nose is trimmed in just enough wood to notice though it does not interfere with the clear appreciation of the fresh, cool and restrained aromas of green fruit, lemon peel and a plenitude of Chablis character where only a hint of exotic fruit is in evidence. Like the Bougros, this is a big-bodied wine with ample size, weight and mid-palate density as the abundant dry extract imparts a suave and opulent mouth feel before culminating in an impressively rich, muscular and persistent finish. 2020+

2008 Chablis 1er Cru
Montee de Tonnerre

12 Mag @ £480 per 6 Mag Case, in bond
£608.14 duty & VAT paid

Pale yellow-green color. Knockout high-pitched nose combines white flowers, crushed stone, citrus peel, gingery spices and a saline oyster shell nuance. Quite reserved today but impeccably pure, displaying outstanding breadth and richness without any impression of weight. Wonderfully vigorous wine that saturates the entire mouth with tactile minerality and excites the taste buds. A great example of this superb premier cru.
