FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT:
December 20-25
|
|
The word Advent is a Latin term meaning 'coming' or 'arrival'. In the four weeks leading up to Christmas, Christians take part in 'Advent' as a way to remember and celebrate the coming of the Saviour, Jesus Christ.
During this season, Bible verses that speak to the coming of Jesus can prepare our hearts to experience the wonder of Christmas, and help us be attentive to God's transforming work in our lives.
The format for the weekly Advent readings is:
1) read the passage slowly, listening for a word or a phrase to strike you;
2) hold on to that word or phrase in your mind, quietly repeating it to yourself;
3) ask God what He is inviting you to understand and do;
4) respond to God in prayer.
We also invite you to read these passages as a family and listen and answer questions together. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather together and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas!
We pray that each of us this Advent season will take time to pause and reflect on what Christ's arrival means to us today individually and as a church family.
