Her Heart Community Bulletin

Founder’s introduction

As we fast approach the end of 2020, there are probably many who (after dealing with a challenging year) are looking forward to welcoming 2021!  However, there are many reasons to take time to pause, reflect on those things we can be grateful for and look to making this holiday season a time of joy and relaxation.

We have a great article written by Dr Juliette Tobias-Webb on scientific and practical ways to manage stress during the festive season, read about how we can manage expectations and not try to “do it all”!  I love the small acts of kindness that she talks about as well as being kind to yourself.

This would seem particularly important given the recent Jean Hailes survey showed that almost one third of women (aged 25-44) said that they did not have enough time to attend appointments for any type of health checks and one in three reported that their health was worse than before COVID, in particular with feeling anxious.

So in closing, and as the global pandemic continues to rage across other parts of the world, we Australians are truly lucky to be spending our holidays with the ones that matter the most. Enjoy this well-earned break and I look forward to connecting again in 2021.

Warmest wishes

Linda
