Online Christmas House Parties this December

DJ’s Dave Prince and Paul Bennett are taking partygoers back in time with their 90’s Christmas house parties this December. The 90’s Revival will deliver their popular act online, allowing participants to party from home. They are holding evening shows on the 5th and 19th December, and a bumper New Year’s Eve set on the 31st December, which they say will be the place to “bin off 2020 and see in the New Year!”
The duo started DJ-ing across the UK in the 90’s, and since 2018 they have been focussing on the decade where it all began for them.

Shropshire outdoor education charity welcomes progress on Natural History GCSE

A leading environmental education charity has welcomed progress towards the development of a new GCSE which would encourage students to spend more time outdoors studying the natural world.
The Field Studies Council, which has its headquarters located at Preston Montford near Shrewsbury, is supporting proposals for the new Natural History GCSE which have recently been submitted to the Department for Education (DfE).

Shropshire Estate Agents Champion a Charity Competition

A Shropshire estates agents, which has been supporting the community wherever it can through the pandemic, asked people to ‘champion a charity’ to receive a financial gift.
Samuel Wood launched a county-wide call out last month for people to ‘champion a charity’ to receive a gift of £100.
The competition was run via the company’s social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and its website.
It asked for nominations of a local charity which could do with a little boost.

High Sheriff highlights Shropshire Larder for those in need

The High Sheriff of Shropshire is calling on the county’s residents and organisations to share information about access to food support as widely as possible.
The Shropshire Food Poverty Alliance has created the Shropshire Larder website which features the latest information about food, housing and benefits in the county; and Dean Harris is asking everyone in Shropshire to let their colleagues, friends and families know about the site.

Expert help at Green Grants for Growth event

Businesses across the Marches can get help to boost their green credentials at a special online event being staged next month.
The Marches Growth Hub’s Green Grants for Growth event will bring together a range of the leading grant, funding and support schemes working across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin to help companies to go green.
The December 9 event, which gets under way at 9.30am, is being co-ordinated by the Marches Growth Hub Shropshire.

Tickets are released for Park Hall Farm’s Christmas Event

Park Hall Countryside Experience have released tickets for their brand new Christmas event – ‘Elf and Safely.’ Admission to the farm will include their Elf Apprentice Show, which will be performed daily, as well as lots of fun activities to get the whole family excited for Christmas. Tickets are available for weekends in December plus the 21st, 22nd and 23rd December.
Organisers have told their customers that due to travel restrictions from the North Pole and social distancing measures, Santa will be unable to visit this year, but there will be a special video message from him.

TV celebrities get into the swing at Blists Hill Victorian Town

Television celebrities Keith Lemon and Richard Blackwood enjoyed all the fun of the fair at Shropshire’s leading visitor attraction as they filmed a revealing interview for a hit ITV show.
The comedy duo took a ride on the famous swing boats at Blists Hill Victorian Town, had a go on the coconut shy, visited the Victorian school, shops and buildings and enjoyed a pint at the town’s New Inn as they filmed scenes for ITV2 late-night show Shopping with Keith Lemon.

Shrewsbury Town sponsor welcomes decision to allow supporters back

Shrewsbury Town fans have been left feeling optimistic following the decision by the Government to allow supporters back into football stands. The numbers allowed in to stands and stadiums will be capped at 4,000 for tier 1 areas and 2,000 for tier 2 when the national lockdown ends at the start of December.
This is welcome news for one of Shrewsbury Town’s biggest sponsors, DM Recruitment, who renewed their sponsorship of the North Stand for the next two seasons earlier this year.

Daniel Dubois must not underestimate Joe Joyce

It’s fair to say that young British boxer Daniel Dubois has whipped up quite a frenzy in his blossoming heavyweight career. With 15 wins from 15 professional bouts, it’s been evident that Dubois is a man blessed with great talent. Such was his visible potential at a young age, promoter Frank Warren (who manages Tyson Fury), snapped up Dubois and convinced him to turn professional at the tender age of 19.
