COVID-19 update
In accordance with government guidelines, the Public Engagement team are still working from home but we are open for business and are continuing to support our individual academic colleagues and Faculties. We will keep you updated on any developments. Updates on the university-wide response to Covid-19 can be found on the University website.

Attend online the Elizabeth Blackwell Annual Public Lecture 2020 on Monday 30 November 2, 13:30-14:30. Professor Dame Sue Hill, Chief Scientific Officer for NHS England who led the NHS contribution to the 100,000 Genomes Project, will talk about Genomics and Personalised Medicine. Register here.

Respond to a call for the British Science Association Award Lecture for the 2021 British Science Festival in Chelmsford 7-11 September. This opportunity is for ECRs who are skilled at engaging people with their research. Deadline is 3 December 2020. More information here.

A reminder that you can also help record responses to Covid-19. The university are documenting how colleagues are responding to the pandemic, through research, engagement and partnership working. Get inspired this week at FUTURES2020! We would like to invite you to the largest public showcase of cutting-edge research in the South West on 27 and 28 November. Join us for a chance to explore, create and imagine the FUTURES of Health, Science, Art, Work, and Home life. Meet University of Bristol researchers shaping the world we live in and find out how they are sharing their work with wider audiences. Funded by the EU Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, this festival of discovery offers a variety of online events and family activities, all designed to inspire curiosity with plenty of fun. To find out more see the full programme

A paper from Australian researchers proposes a new schema for defining tangible outcomes from cultural experiences, such as stimulating creativity; enriching  emotional and cognitive experiences; gaining new insights; appreciating cultural diversity; and deepening a sense of belonging.
