Recently I started a new LIVE STREAM video series on Youtube called Shop Talk. The most recent edition featured world renowned luthier, Michael Bashkin of Bashkin Guitars, as my guest. If you were not able to tune in, you can watch the replay by clicking on the video link below.
Viewers were able to ask questions in real time! Many people tuning in took advantage of this and we had a wonderful discussion about types of woods suitable for lutherie and their characteristics, Michael's approach to neck carving, pros and cons of different X bracing patterns, back bracing approaches for live and non- live backs, tap tuning, voicing, double tops, scale lengths, zero frets, tool recommendations and much much more. Michael even talked about his highly detailed peghead and end graft designs and how he uses sand shading for depth and beauty. He also talk about his special clamping caul that works for clamping frets in on a fretboard with a standard radius, compound radius or even fan frets.
I am sure you will find the content in this edition of SHOP TALK entertaining and useful in your own shops. Don't forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel and click on the bell icon to get notified when I am going live with a new edition of SHOP TALK. Happy Building!
