$142,000 donated! Each of the laid-off workers who wasn't rehired by the contractors is receiving $2,500 in pandemic relief aid, with an addtional $1,000 to workers who are facing special challenges.
The Fund will continue accepting donations so that further pandemic relief aid will be possible.
We're now scheduling free online classes for this group, including OSHA certifications that may help in their job searches.
I wanted to let you know that as I sit here and read all of the lovely comments from the people who have supported us during this difficult time, I have been touched to know that even though I have felt that I did not matter to the college and the 27 years of service was nothing to them, that in fact there was an impact I have had in the young lives that I have come in contact with has been a great relief to me. Since Feb., when we were told of the possibility of being outsourced, I have gone through every emotion on a daily basis, And to know that the Oberlin I have come to love, my home away from home, was going to be No more, was devastating to say the least. The actions by the college had made me bitter in every sense of the word! But to find out that we have had so many supporters and to feel the love of everyone who have donated, and especially all the kind words, has truly made me feel a little more worth & I want to thank everyone who has given me dignity & respect back....so THANK YOU for all you have done to support us in this difficult time! It means the world to me to know that we weren't forgotten by the people who matter the most...I can't say enough.....THANK YOU.

I just want to give you and all the members who donated, my sincere and heartfelt thanks. You just can't realize how much your generosity has touched all of us.
I worked at Oberlin College for 23 years and 21 years as the Telephone Operator/UAW and was completely devastated on August 6th when I was told my job was eliminated and that my last day was August 7th.
I pray God Bless each and every one of you, who did not forget about us. This was even more touching that the Transition Fund Board was able to distribute the funds before Thanksgiving!!

We are all so touched by your kind words, support and generosity. This has been a living nightmare to many of us.
