My heart begins to speed up, my breathing is shallow and fast and I feel a bit faint.

My days of shopping on Black Friday at the big box stores are over.
Personal reasons I don't like it include:
  • I don't like all the people elbowing each other, rushing, fighting over tv's and electronics.
  • It gets hot in the store. I just want to take my coat off and put it in the cart. Except I'm afraid someone will take it!
  • Covid.

Business reasons I don't like it:
  • Made in China products are not supporting our manufacturers.
  • The taxes big boxes pay to the small towns are pennies on the dollar. Those taxes help keep our police and fire departments.
  • Customer service is lacking, big time. There is no one there to help me!

Finally, I know the people who own stores in my small town. We do things together. We support our students, non profits, and each other. They are my friends.

They are there when I need them. So I shop from them, because right now they need me.

Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Deb
