We would like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing day off. How are you doing Thanksgiving differently this year?

Preserving Family Memories

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2020 AT 6 PM CST – 7:30 PM CST

This holiday season will be very different due to COVID-19 and restrictions on travel. This is also the time for treasured memories.

OCA Greater Chicago is pleased to welcome Amelia Lin, founder and CEO of Saga, a mobile app for recording and preserving family stories, to talk about her motivation for starting the company for her own mother and father, Amy and Lisan, to record and share their stories.

"Recording their stories has brought our family moments of laughter and nostalgia, sparked new conversations, and brought us closer together. It is my dearest wish that your family will find the same."

Come and hear why preserving family memories is so important for immigrant families and how you can use the platform to share those stories with one another.

Registration is not required. Click here to join the conversation on 12/01 at 6 pm CST.

DECEMBER 1 IS #GIVINGTUESDAY!

As a nonprofit, we rely on donations and sponsorships to fund our programs.

In the past year, we offered a leadership development training program for APA high school students, a diverse panel of Asian American professionals from a variety of industries, a candid conversation with an Asian American Clinical Psychologist, a Twitter conversation on APA mental health, and a collaboration with the Illinois Department of Human Services on career opportunities in social work, counseling, and clinical psychology.

We have three events coming up, including Preserving Family Memories on December 1, Talk Stories: An Asian American / Asian Diaspora Storytelling Show on December 16, and A Conversation with Asian American Women Restaurateurs on January 14.

In the works are leadership development programs for specific audiences and open to the public, including APA Y-Advocate and APIA U Leadership, leadership development training programs for high school students and college students respectively, MAAP: Mentoring Asian American Professionals, and B3: Build, Breakthrough & Believe, a professional development program for aspiring Asian American and Pacific Islander young professionals.

Your donation will go a long way towards helping us continue to offer programs that benefit, inform, and educate our communities.

FROM OUR PRESIDENT MABEL MENARD:
If you donate via OCA Greater Chicago’s PayPal link from now through December 1, 2020 11:59 pm CST, I will match dollar for dollar up to $500.
