The Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta (FAVA) is a not-for-profit, charitable society that exists to facilitate and support the creation, exhibition, distribution, and preservation of independent film, video and new media art in Northern Alberta.

FAVA FEST 2021 Call for Submissions are now OPEN.

Now is the time to submit your completed film to the festival in the Awards of Excellence category. If you’ve got a new project on the burner, consider applying to our Production Awards. Click the button below to review guidelines and submit your application! 

The Deadline to submit for all categories is January 7th, 2021, 11:59pm MST. All award categories are eligible for cash awards and prizes. Don't delay on your application!

Our Introductory Filmmaking class is continuing as a blended online and small cohort in-person workshops. If you want to learn the language of filmmaking, get hands on experience, and try something new: register now! The discounted early bird deadline is December 10th.

This is our intermediate production class with blended online and small cohort in-person workshops. Participants must have completed FAVA’s Video Kitchen course, or have proven equivalent experience (at the discretion of FAVA). This class will build upon a basic knowledge of production and editing, in order to take your craft to the next level. Similar to Video Kitchen, you’ll get to take a short film (under 10 minutes) from pre-production through to completion. This curriculum is designed to elevate the technical skills needed to fully realize your vision. The discounted early bird deadline is December 10th.

FAVA's 2020 Holiday Hours: 

Rentals & Studios will close on December 11th, 2020 and re-open January 4th, 2021. 

Administration, Membership, & Programming will close on December 18th, 2020 and re-open January 4th, 2021.

JOB OPPORTUNITY AT FAVA & AMS 

The Film and Arts Society of Alberta (FAVA) needs a Project Coordinator to join the AMS Network development team.

AMS-Network is an online digital arts management system, designed by the arts community for the arts community. FAVA currently shares the use of this Application with over 70 arts organizations across Canada.

In your capacity as the Project Coordinator, you will facilitate communications and workflow between the product owner, the product development team, and the customers to keep the software on track.
