New educational resources looking at reliability online launch for Safer Internet Day

Schools and organisations are now able to register as a Safer Internet Day Supporter to share what they are doing for the day!

In 2020 over 1,700 organisations registered their support; the day reached 49% of young people in the UK making 2020 the biggest UK Safer Internet Day yet.

And now we need your help to make Safer Internet Day 2021 even bigger and better!

MPs and peers say government must step up to fill EU funding gap to fight online child abuse and exploitation

MPs, Peers, and former ministers have called on the Government to step in to make sure children are not left vulnerable to online exploitation and abuse after EU funding for online charities is withdrawn.

In an open letter published November 19th a cross-party group of 33 MPs and Peers urged the Chancellor Rishi Sunak to replace £1.3 million of funding for the UK Safer Internet Centre (UK SIC), which is currently provided by the EU.

SWGfL release new resource for schools planning online performances

The school play is one of the more popular traditions that brings together school communities all over the country. With large gatherings being unable to come together due to lockdown restrictions and social distancing measures, there may be some uncertainty as to whether school plays can actually continue. Despite this, there is a solution that many schools will adopt in order to keep the tradition going!

This new resource from SWGfL takes you through the relevant safeguarding considerations and responsibilities involved with putting on an online performance.

 Record number of public reports to the IWF

September saw the highest number of public reports of suspected child sexual abuse material ever received in a single month by the IWF, with more people staying and working from home among contributing factors.
