Today the world is smaller and kinder. Today is #GivingTuesday, a world-wide day of generosity and impact where nonprofit organizations, businesses and philanthropists come together to promote and participate in giving to support better, more vibrant, and stronger communities. This year for the 5th anniversary of USJETAA we are asking you to help us raise $5,000.

You remember the impact the JET Program had on you. Pay it forward with a donation of $100 to make a difference in the life of a returning JET, like Maria.

Maria returned from JET in April of 2020. She was struggling until she attended the Transitions: Opportunities Forum & Networking Expo 2020, which USJETAA co-organized with JETAA Pacific Northwest. Maria told us, “Before attending the forum & expo I was struggling with my job search after arriving back in April. I aimed to work in higher education, however, my field has been a challenge to enter with COVID 19 (e.g. nation-wide furloughs, budget cuts, lay-offers in education.) I sent out dozens of resumes, but I haven't heard back from them for many months. I had a few interviews but then would choke due to imposter syndrome.

She met three JET alumni through the networking sessions at Transitions who gave her not only the confidence boost she needed, but also helped her land a new job at a university in the Pacific Northwest. One alumn(us/a) worked at the university where Maria planned to apply and offered an e-coffee information session. Another alumn(us/a) she met through Transitions gave her a mock interview and introduced her to yet another alumni who gave her advice about graduate school and ended up being a key person she works with in her new role.

These are exactly the types of outcomes we aim to facilitate through our career support programs.

Maria said, “2020 has been rough. However, I find appreciation in this ever-linking chain of compassion and support. I hope to pay it forward in supporting other JETs in PNWJETAA and USJETAA.

Will you donate to pay it forward?

Whether you give $25 or $100, your support will help emerging leaders like Maria succeed and strengthen the U.S.-Japan relationship. With your donation today, you will bring this momentum into 2021.

I'm Giving!
Sincerely,
