Hi de hi dear members!

Well what kind of weather weirdness is this we're experiencing?? Icy blasts, torrential rain warnings - it's the last week of Spring before we head into Summer for goodness sake! Although did we really expect any less from 2020? I know a lot of us are itching for 2020 to be over and to happily launch into a new and far better year in 2021. Fingers and toes crossed all.

As the lovely Kathleen wrote last week while I was at home with under-the-weather-kidlets, we're heading towards Christmas with a big old rush now - only one month until the big day. If you've visited us in the last week you probably noticed we're turning into a bit of a Christmas wonderland! 
We've put a box under the Christmas tree - please feel free to donate any non-perishable food items here - we'll be sending all donations along to the Women's Refuge to hopefully help brighten their festive season.

Festive Season Housekeeping
The Club will close at 9:30pm on Christmas Eve.
The Club and Pool are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. 

If you're planning on bringing kids / grandkids etc along to the Kids' Christmas Party please register and pay at the bar - more details further along.

Club Christmas Dinner Buffet on Sunday 20th December - menu to come shortly - bookings essential and limited to 100 people.

Please also note - the pool and surrounding areas will be closed until around 3:00pm on Wednesday 16th December.

In extremely exciting news, we're delighted to announce that we have a new sponsor!
Stratco is our new sponsor on a Saturday night, and we'll draw a membership number at random as usual to try to give away a $50 bar tab and $50 restaurant voucher! Gotta be here to be in to win members......
And because of the new sponsor, we've also decided to have door draws on a Saturday night too! It just gets better....

Motorsports Car Sales Courtesy Van

Our van operates Thursday to Sunday from 3:00pm.
Just give us a call on 3478301 during opening hours, go through to the bar and book your pick up time.
To get home again, we make regular announcements throughout the night when the van is leaving shortly, so you just need to get yourself out into the foyer and hop on.

Note - we're starting to become busier with Christmas events coming up, and generally more members coming to enjoy the Club - if you can give us a little notice for pick up times that would be appreciated - and a little flexibility with pick up time would be good too - we will do our best to pick up up when you want but it depends on how many pick ups we have requested.
If you live in an area affected by roadworks please take that into account too - thanks!

For new members who don't know about this - this is a free service but we would appreciate it if you could drop a donation in the box on the bar. Thank you!


 

CT Leisure Club

We had another awesome lunch yesterday at the Club with 22 people attending.
Thanks so much to Valerie Price and Jan Frogley for their pétanque instruction. What a shame the weather packed up!



 
Also thanks to Noelle Henderson for organising books and book shelves. Books are for all club members to borrow  and are in the dining room beside the elevator.  Donations towards shelves very welcome.
 
Next function is trip to Christmas markets in Hamilton on 12 December - I have one spot available if anyone would like to join us -$85 includes transport, admission to market and lunch on Hamilton river.

Kids' Xmas Party - Sunday 6th December

Don't forget to book your kids in for our annual Kids' Christmas Party - Sunday 6th of December from 11am. Please book by Monday 29th of November.
This year we have the "Balloon Man" who will be making all kinds of cool things with balloons.
Santa will be arriving around 12:00 noon - with gifts then we'll fire up the barbie for a yummy sausage sizzle. We're planning on a poolside party with lots of splashy fun, but if the weather decides to not play nicely then panic not - we'll still have lots of fun indoors. 

Please register at the bar, and the cost is $8.00 per child.

Big shout out to Grace Tinson for designing the Kids' Christmas party posters on her work experience day from JPC. What a fabulous daughter I have :)

Cue Sports News

Our Christmas Windup for 2020 is at the Club on Sunday 6th December. 
2:00pm prizegiving for Cue Sports Club Champs, 2:15pm drawn pairs 8 Ball Tournament. 
$5 entry - any everyone wins a prize!
Names must be in by 2:00pm.
Everyone is welcome, and we'll probably finish around 5:00pm.

Golf News

In the CT Club’s Golf Nationals hosted by Tauranga two teams qualified for the second day’s play in the main event which was won by Tauranga.
Rotorua team 3, Roger McHale, Ken Cumner , Craig Newbrook and Malcolm Thomas were in the prizes in 5th place.
In the consolation event on day two Rotorua team 1, Steve Mason, Gary Herbert, Brian Herbert and Dennis Gulley came third.
The Johnny Miller Trophy for the best individual golfer in the tournament was won by Roger McHale.
 

Quiz News

 Our last Quiz for the year is our special Christmas Quiz on Monday December 14th.

Our restaurant will be doing a special Christmas themed buffet for the great price of $15 per person.
Please either let Delwyn know if you'll be joining us for dinner or book up at the bar - all welcome.
 And if you need a little persuading - just check out this delicious menu.....


I say again members, $15.00 per head. $15.00. You'd be crazy not to!

They're will also be spot prizes, and prizes for best dressed costume and best table setting.
And don't forget to bring along cans or non perishable items for the food bank - this year we will be donating  these to Women's Refuge.
