Aloha,

The holiday season is upon us, and we are thankful for so many things despite the pandemic. We have been moved, humbled, inspired and uplifted by the spirit of kōkua and generosity that we have seen in our community. We could not be more grateful to our employees, our customers, our industry and community partners, and friends across the state, and we wish you all a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.

Our employees enjoy giving back to the community and some of them participated in the “Festival of Hope for Families” event this past Saturday, November 21. The statewide event was held by the General Contractors Association of Hawaii who teamed up with Child & Family Service. On Kauaʻi, our employees helped to direct traffic for this fun and family-friendly drive-thru event! The Kauaʻi Child & Family Service Festival offered Lokahi kits containing a variety of family-friendly activities, games and personal hygiene items, a produce section featuring bags from the Kauaʻi Food Hub, a chef prepared meal led by Chef Mark Oyama of Mark's Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering, a holiday pie created by the American Culinary Federation, and a large food offering through the efforts of the Hawaii Foodbank Kauaʻi Branch that included ground beef, chicken, eggs, bread and assorted canned food. We are glad that our employees have the opportunity to participate in events like these and we continue to support Hawaiʻi’s community.

We are also glad to share that the Localicious® Hawaiʻi Art and Poetry Calendar Contest presented by Hawaiʻi Gas is accepting entries from students in grades K-8. If you have a young artist, writer or poet in your family, encourage them to enter by Nov. 30! It’s a fun way for keiki to appreciate where their food comes from as the holidays begin.
