Dear Subscriber,

As 2020 is nearing the end, now is the perfect time to reflect on the past 11 months. In a year that could best be described as the ultimate roller coaster (lots of ups and downs), it is important to remember that even though most would say the downs outweighed the ups, there were still some positives this year.

For us, as an organization, we had to change the way we do pretty much everything.  Education programs shifted to virtual or take-home kits, our research department acted as proxy for scientists who could not come to Sitka to do their work, and we had to embrace an advanced ticketing system for visitors.  We had to host Sitka WhaleFest virtually.  These are all things that will ultimately help us move forward as an organization, even when we can have in-person activities and programs again.

It is our fondest wish, moving into this end-of-year holiday season, that you take some time to reflect on how you have grown and changed this year (because it is a safe bet that you have, in some way).  As this will be our last digital newsletter of the year, we would like to take this time to wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season, and we look forward to what new things we can bring you in 2021.
