The festive season is upon us, and after the crazy year we've had, we are certainly looking forward to spending time with family and friends and celebrating!

We have put together a few of our favourite gift ideas - there's something for everyone, every taste and every budget.

Our range of seasonal Christmas plants have arrived, and we are pleased to share some tips on how to keep them looking good over the Christmas period and beyond.

We are always happy to gift wrap your purchases for you, and we can arrange delivery if you can't get your gift to your loved one in person.

We look forward to seeing you in the nursery in the lead up to Christmas!

From the team at Town and Country Gardens.

Christmas Trees

Why not start a family tradition with a potted Christmas tree that you can nurture and watch grow with your family. A living tree is a sustainable way to enjoy Christmas. See our guide on how to care for your Christmas tree all year round.

Poinsettias

Poinsettias are one of the plants most synonymous with the Christmas festive season, thanks to the Mexican legend.  Read more about how the symbolic connection with Christmas began, plus how to look after your poinsettia.

We have received a beautiful range of indoor plants this week including huge Boston Fern hanging baskets, Bambino Fiddle Leaf Figs, some gorgeous Rhipsalis Cactus and Monstera Deliciosa. We also have an unusual variety of ZZ plant (Zanzibar Zenzii), Anthuriums which feature a vibrant red heart shaped flower, and Sansevieria "Lotus Hanhii", a more compact version of the traditional Mother in Law's Tongue.

For those of you who have no room for a Christmas tree because your house is full of indoor plants, you can still bring Christmas cheer into your home. Here's a suggestion from one of our team who loves a fairy light or two!
You've probably noticed the jacarandas have all burst in to bloom with the start of summer. With their vibrant purple flowers and lime green foliage they are one of the most spectacular floral displays of the year. It's lovely to think that these trees, planted so many years ago can be enjoyed now and into the future.

The gift of a tree is a beautiful and symbolic gesture, something that will live on through the years and be an evolving reminder of the person who gifted it to you.

Large trees make a grand gesture and are a good choice for those who have space. For those that don't, options include Japanese maples, olives and frangipanis - stunning feature trees that can be grown in large pots. Dwarf fruit trees such as citrus, nectarines, peaches and apples will reward your loved one with fruit every year.
There is still time to dress up your garden for Christmas festivities. We have a range of options available including fuchsias, begonias, mandevillas, daisies, new guinea impatiens, vincas, petunias, zinnias, and hanging baskets bursting with colour.
Hydrangeas must be one of the most loved flowering shrubs - we can tell because when they arrive in the nursery they sell so quickly it's hard to keep up! We also field a lot of questions about their care. If you have recently purchased a hydrangea and are wondering how to keep it looking great in your garden year after year, read our hydrangea care guide to find out more.
