GUNDY FRUIT
Dennis and Sherri Smith would like to thank-you all for your patronage this year.  This Thursday, will be the last visit for this month and hopefully Dennis will be back just before Christmas so everyone can get a great supply of mangoes, cherries and other goodies for the festive season.

As you all know, the bread and rolls are fantastic.  If anyone would like to buy a few more in bulk to put in the freezer, or any bulk fruit and vege orders, please email Sherri by Tuesday night on gundyqualityfruit@yahoo.com.au so that you don’t miss out.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are back over next to CountryWide Tyres this Thursday from about 9.00 am onwards until approximately 3.30-4.00pm.  This is our last chance to get great produce for a while.
The Flying Doctor is desperate for patient stories which we can share with our supporters who keep our service going. These stories inspire people to continue donating to us, and these donations keep the Flying Doctor in the air.
Would you be willing to share your RFDS story with us? Message this Facebook account, or email lily.cardis@rfdsse.org.au
Thank you for your support.
MAKING THE BEST OF OPPORTUNITIES.
“The recent “finalist” notification of Council’s Aboriginal Liaison/ Community Development Officer, Ms. Reburdah Dennis as one of seven NSW finalists for Rotary 2020 Inspirational Women's awards in the category Young Inspirational Women highlights the potential outcomes of our young people by being supported and empowered through community opportunities and commitment to invest in our future leaders”, said General Manager of the Walgett Shire Council Mr Mike Urquhart.
Through Reburdah ’s initial mentoring at the Walgett PCYC and her natural ability to “have a go” opportunities are endless and varied with support networks and role models vital in the development of our young people, and its fitting to see Reburdah recognised at a high level” he said.
We look back over several years and many of the youth from within our communities have been recognised at the highest levels for their efforts in working with organisations, Council and others to improve their lives and set up a future for themselves, all the while inadvertently role modelling for our next wave of youth to break through to the real world.
This is all challenging as this year in particular has been like no other said Mr Urquhart.
Councils very proud of not just Reburdah and her efforts but our extensive community and youth development team and the commitment they display in working towards Councils visions and striving to improve the life of all those across our Shire.
We, Council have some amazing and immensely productive partnerships in play in the community sector, and in particular Youth and young people. Partnerships and trust that has only strengthened from many many years working side by side with others, setting achievable goals and drawing on a strengths based approach to community development and in many cases our strength is our people.
Our Youth Development staff, led by YDO Ms Sandra Bladen, underpinned by the broader Community Development Team guided and managed by Mr George McCormick endeavour to continue to work and empower young people through the many programs we deliver and furthermore continue to support all residents and services in provision to community. Mr Urquhart said,” developing and supporting the young people of today is priceless…its actually the future of our tomorrow.”
