Dear Friend of CCATE,

It is a joy for us to share this inaugural issue of our newsletter that will be released every three months and portray our journey as a community.

This year has been difficult for everyone, but we have learned at CCATE that solidarity (solidaridad) and mutual support move us forward. This year we have managed to move into our new building. Second, we were able to convert our programs online, as well as continue with summer courses and the after-school program. Third, we started support programs for families suffering from COVID-19.

We therefore invite you to support us in this campaign to raise funds that support our current efforts with the goal of $30,000.

We wish this closing of the year and the beginning of the year 2021, be of peace and good health (paz y buena salud), for you, your close ones, and for the world.

Obed Arango
Executive Director of CCATE

¡Nuevo edificio! Sponsor a Room!

The new CCATE building has three large gardens in which ecological projects are already being worked on, parking, space for the after-school program, two office rooms, a kitchen, and ten classrooms. The building also has the possibility of expanding to create an art gallery and library in the next two years.

It is our hope that by Spring of 2021 we will return to the hybrid model of classes where we can offer face-to-face classes and online classes, but this will only be possible if we can raise the necessary funds. You can be a partial sponsor of any of the following:

After school program room • Science room • Technology and media room • Computer room • Children's library • Youth library • Adult library Art room Kitchen Community conference room Administrative office and conference room • Basement remodel

I want to sponsor a classroom!

Support for families during COVID-19

It's no secret that the COVID-19 epidemic has disproportionality affected monitory communities across the United States, and the Latinx community of Norristown is no exception.

In March, food security became an immediate problem. At CCATE, a committee of mothers & fathers made it their mission to put food on our tables. With the support of Greener Partners, The Children's Hospital, and other local stores, CCATE has distributed 100 weekly baskets composed of grains, vegetables, pasta, tortillas and fruit, for the past 35 weeks, totaling 3,500 pantries.

Earlier this summer, we shared the somber news of CCATE leader Horacio de la Luz, who was hospitalized from May-October, and suffers from Guillain-Barre Syndrome as a result of COVID-19. CCATE created a fund and in the month of August we managed to give $6,000 to support Horcacio’s family through the Fall, but the family is still in need of support through the Winter, to pay rent and basic family needs. Horacio has a wife and three children: Dulce, 15, Horacio,10, and Max, 2 years old. We know that this year has been perhaps the most difficult of their lives and we wish as CCATE to walk with them.
Horacio's family needs our help.

You can support CCATE's COVID-19 efforts by donating below.
We are raising $12,000.00! $6000.00 for food support for the months of December-April, and $6000.00 to support  the Luz family.

*Please note when prompted if your donation is for this fund.
