Low Earth Orbit - CGI Film

Low Earth Orbit - CGI Film

Like so many complex productions, this was a simple idea – to make a short film as a showcase. To push some boundaries and possibilities in our work. And also to have some fun at the same time!

After intense brainstorming the story line of this CGI production began to take shape on plain paper. We collected ideas and inspiration from film to photography of architecture, light and atmospheric effects, to artists working with light like Yayoi Kusama and Olafur Eliasson.

After proposing our vision to Audi we were thrilled to use the data of their new all electric concept model e-tron GT to bring alive our hero vehicle. There are no restrictions in CGI but our goal was to keep things as real as possible within the boundaries of our story. We recreated realistic camera moves as you'd see in car to car scenes, including elements such as suspension movements or camera drifts. With an initial sequence in place we then shot our driver in a green screen set.

The music by Olafur Arnalds was the key to bringing everything together – we altered shots and especially camera moves to match the rhythm of the piece. During the final editing stages we fine tuned all the elements, applied color grading and designed title and credits. Lastly, the film went to Echolab for sound editing, adding subtle ambient noises that accentuate the mesmerizing story. Delve into the detailed making-of and the full version of the film on our blog.

Neon Woods - Andreas Hempel

Neon Woods - Andreas Hempel

During the initial shutdown last year and forced to stay put, Andreas Hempel found joy in exploring his local woodlands and was surprised by the amazing discoveries he made within a radius of 20 miles from his home town Duesseldorf. There are no primeval forests left in Germany, all have been shaped by humans over time, yet one-third of the national territory still remains covered in trees.

The photographer used a mobile flash and colored gels to paint the foliage and fallen limbs he came across in the thicket. He turned often overlooked patches of nature into mystical forest scenes, reminding us that beauty can be found anywhere, we just have to open our eyes to see familiar places in a different light.

Christian Schemer in our Stuttgart studio mixed multiple exposures in post and worked the colors to amplify the surreal feel of this series. More of these on our website

Formula E - Full CGI

Formula E - Full CGI

In 2019 the Porsche Formula E team partnered with Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer and celebrated their debut in the 6th season of the electric street racing series Formula E World Championship. Midway through the races, agency Proximity published the campaign #STAYHUNGRY that clearly reflects the teams' attitude to grow and accelerate in this new discipline.

Our Berlin studio created this image in full CGI from car to garage and glowing screen. As the Coronavirus took over our lives we came up with the alternate title #STAYHOME and were happy to see the Porsche/TAG Heuer E-team using our version in their social feeds. Acura - Sean Klingelhoefer

Acura - Sean Klingelhoefer

It's been almost 20 year since Acura's first generation of their flagship model MDX hit the asphalt. To celebrate this milestone the automaker completely revamped their popular 7 seater, by making it longer, wider, and more spacious than its predecessor. Brand new to this line is also a 'Type S' sports version that Sean Klingelhoefer got assigned to shoot as a prototype, before the newly added model was released to the public.

Top secret at the time, the car was captured on a stage in LA behind closed doors, after which the series of four images underwent touch up and fine tuning by the post team at our NY studio. See all shots on our website.
