Hi Families,
We had a great time Sunday evening fellowshiping and eating pie!!!! As we head into the holiday season, I challenged the teens in two ways. First, that they exhibit thankfulness as a true believer. Col 3:6-7 says, "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." We talked about how a true believer should be abounding in thanksgiving. Specifically, we don't show this only in special blessings or even the daily blessings, but we can show this in the lows and hard aspects of life. I challenged them that a true believer really shines when they can be thankful in trials and hardships! I asked them, if they can be thankful for the hard things we experienced in 2020, because we know God's sovereignly oversees our lives? Secondly, I really leaned into being generous. We talked about how we can focus on others during the holidays when it is so easy to focus on ourselves, our Christmas lists, or even being spoiled by grandparents. But like Phil 2:3 points out, we can count others more significant than ourselves. We can give time, service, money, and a listening ear! Ask your teens about these areas. They had a handout and discussed these ideas in small groups. Let's make this week a true time of giving thanks to the Lord and continue living in thanksgiving all year long!
Blessings,
Pastor Rob
