At Church of the Reconciler we are excited to enter the Advent and holiday season. We hope that as the weather cools, your heart is strangely warmed by God and the amazing things still being done by good people and organizations. Today is Giving Tuesday, and we hope that you will bless Church of the Reconciler with your generosity. The pandemic has affected everyone in many ways, and we know that this season of giving and shopping may look different for you. Know that every gift of any size makes a difference, especially when we all bring our gifts and resources together.

To give you an idea of what your gift to Church of the Reconciler does, read on about our Advent themes, which are key aspects of our work and vision:

These are tangible and essential experiences that your gifts to Church of the Reconciler support. Some of them may seem simple, but they are all important to building stability and abundant life.
MAIL is one of the first interactions we have with many of our community members. People who are homeless need to have a mailing address in order to access services of food, health, and housing.

For those who have always had a mailing address, it can be easy to forget what an important resource that is. Church of the Reconciler provides a mailing address for anyone who needs it and checks mail during our office hours. By the way, It is really fun to be here when people get good news or resources in the mail. You could be a part of that as one of our volunteers!

RECOVERY from addiction is often a needed first step toward health, stability, and safety. We love to help community members call the Recovery Resource Center of Birmingham to enter a recovery program and build a strong foundation for moving forward with job and housing applications.
HOUSING is what we long for with many of our community members. We advocate for city planning that includes affordable housing, and we work with our community members to search the housing lists and submit applications.
COMMUNITY is what we’re all about in Church of the Reconciler. We build community and celebrate the gifts of every member, whether they’re getting signed up for mail, attending worship, helping to distribute meals and encourage others, or just stopping by to say hello. We love our community, and we know that everyone here has God-given gifts for abundant life and sharing the love of Jesus.

Wednesday mornings we find Jesus’ presence in Linn Park and share communion there.
