Dear People of Hope,

We are invited to participate in  "A Mindful Reflection of Thanksgiving from a Native American Perspective" led by Pr. Karis Graham of Hope Lutheran Church in Clinton, Maryland. This reflection will premiere at 7pm tonight, Thanksgiving Eve.

Our time together will feature Pr. Karis, who belongs to the Saponi and Monacan tribes, and some of her Native American relations sharing in a discussion, traditional story-telling and singing.

We can enjoy this wonderful Wednesday evening reflection using the following links:

We are also invited to join Pr. Karis for a brief blessing at 12pm on Thanksgiving Day. What a wonderful way to come together to give thanks to God for all of God's gifts! The Thursday noon blessing will be via zoom, here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88331055311.

Then join us this Sunday when we begin Advent, the 4 weeks of anticipation before Christmas.  Bring 4 candles to light your own Advent Wreath; bring food or drink to celebrate Kitchen Table worship, where we know Jesus meets us at the table.  See below for ways to connect throughout Advent, from conversations to pony rides.

In Gratitude,
  Pastor Julie

During the Advent season we often talk a lot about the Holy Land of the past without talking much about the Holy Land of the present. What is going on in Bethlehem today? How are we called to accompany our Palestinian siblings in love, joy, hope, peace, and justice? What does this mean for our own advent journey?

This year, Hope joins ELCA Young Adults and ELCA Peace Not Walls for an Advent Pilgrimage in Palestine.

Over the course of the 4 weeks of Advent young adults from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land will lead us on this pilgrimage through story, education, and theological reflection.

Every Wednesday people from Hope and Humble Walk will gather by zoom to watch short videos and talk about the pilgrimage together.  Contact Pastor Julie or Pastoral Intern Madeline for more information.  Or simply join us any or every Wednesday by zoom (link above)

Join us as movies@hope presents While You Were Sleeping.  This Christmas season romantic comedy tells the story of a lonely transit worker whose dreams of true love seem far away, until fate intervenes in the strangest of ways.  The young Sandra Bullock stars in this delightful "sleeper" hit from 1995.

Even though we can't gather in person, we think it's more important than ever to watch great films with the opportunity to discuss afterwards what we've seen.  So please put on some popcorn and join us!  Hope to "see" you then, and invite a friend or neighbor, including those who wouldn't usually be able to come out to our regular showings at the church!
