Our ongoing Virtual Meditation on the Lawn series is hosted live on Mondays at 7:50am ET.  Different members of the UVA community lead these brief, 7-8 minute contemplative sessions. Coming up on December 7, our host will be Alicia López-Operé, Assistant Professor, General Faculty, Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese.

This will be our last Virtual Meditation on the Lawn this semester. Sessions will resume on January 11, 2021 so stay tuned for updates!

More than 700 UVA students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends from all over the world have registered for this weekly event since we launched it on October 19. Check out our list of inspiring past facilitators and access recordings of all previous sessions below.

Faculty Contemplative Practice Community 

All UVA faculty and instructors are invited to join the Faculty Contemplative Practice Community for Spring Semester 2021! The group meets for 15 minutes weekly to practice mindfulness, gentle movement, observation, and other forms of contemplation. Schedule to be determined based on participant input.

academic course: Journeys Toward Purpose and Belonging
CSC's executive director, David Germano, will teach the UVA academic class Buddhist Meditation and the Modern Secular World this J term. This course focuses on meditation from three overlapping perspectives: traditional Buddhist practices, contemporary scientific research, and modern secular adaptations. Secular meditative practices will also be taught. Learn more. In the coming weeks, we will be posting our curated list of Spring 2021 academic classes which focus on student flourishing. In the meantime, check out Journeys Toward Purpose and Belonging (RELG 2559-002) taught by CSC's Anthony DeMauro. The class will explore topics related to life purpose, belonging, and resilience in relationship to well-being. Learn more.
